The Embedded Systems Team develops the first layers of software on the car, from communicating with hardware to moving large amounts of data up the stack. We are looking for a hardworking Engineering Manager, Test Tools & Infrastructure to lead, manage, and grow an engineering team in a fast-paced environment. This is a unique opportunity to own and define how the embedded systems of an autonomous vehicle are tested and what is required to get the driver out of the vehicle, safely and at scale. What you’ll be doing:
  • Define and develop the tools required to test at scale the embedded systems of the self-driving vehicle that maximize automation and reusability
  • Develop the testing infrastructure required to conduct requirement based testing and development based testing while maximizing automation in test planning, test execution, and test reporting
  • Work side by side with test managers to reduce time from requirements to test results in support of faced paced development programs
  • Work with senior leaders of the team to create and execute on a roadmap for your team that supports the overall roadmap for the Embedded Systems group
  • Drive software test engineering standard methodologies within your team
  • Conduct performance evaluations, identify top performers, and support their growth into Technical Leadership or Engineering Management roles
  • Foster a healthy, collaborative culture and high-output team
  • Help define, build, and embody Cruise engineering culture and principles
  • Invest heavily in recruiting by working closely with recruiters, screening candidates, and finding opportunities for external engagement to improve the Cruise engineering brand
What you must have:
  • 4+ years experience in software testing in an Agile environment
  • Experience with tools required for software testing
  • Experience specifying, building and maintaining HIL test benches
  • Experience defining test automation strategies and driving its execution
  • Extensive experience building test plans, regression testing, and root cause analysis
  • Self motivated to lead your teams, encourage best practices, and constantly improve
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent real world experience

  • Experience managing teams who have shipped and support scalable production systems
  • Experience building teams from the ground up
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with embedded Linux systems
  • Experience with Hardware in the Loop testing
  • Experience with safety critical applications (medical devices, aviation, or automotive)
