Position: Professional Services II (Cloud Infrastructure Architect)
Location: Seattle, WA (Work may be performed from anywhere in the United States)

Multiple positions available:

1. Help partners and customers utilize AWS services, such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), Amazon SimpleDB/RDS databases, AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), etc. which include understanding customer requirements, proposing and delivering packaged offerings, and delivering custom solution engagements.
2. Ensure customer and partner teams success in building applications and services on the AWS platform by utilizing customer facing skills and technical background to drive discussion with senior leaders regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management, and risk mitigation.
3. Assist in the development of technical architecture and capacity, while also collaborating with partners on key engagements. Own and drive projects and engagements involving architecture, design, development, and implementation of Amazon's utility computing web services.
4. Deliver proof-of-concept projects, topical workshops, and lead implementation projects.
5. Focus on key customer solutions, such as digital media supply chain, rendering, packaging, over the top (OTT), web applications, enterprise applications, HPC, batch processing and big data, archiving and disaster recovery, education and government.
6. Assist in the migration of existing applications and the development of new applications using AWS services, working with engineering, support, and business teams to convey partner and customer feedback as input to AWS technology roadmaps.
7. Work with engineering and support teams to convey partner and customer needs and feedback as input to technology roadmaps.
8. Define technical and project strategies, document best practices, and consult and provide analytical insight on product improvement/development and feature innovation for cloud-based web services and platforms based on scalability, performance, availability, and cost.
9. Work may be performed from anywhere in the United States.
10. Telecommuting benefits available.
11. Domestic travel required up to 70% of the time to Amazon offices and client sites.

Basic Qualifications


Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field and three years of experience in infrastructure architecture, systems engineering or software development.

Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field and five years of progressively responsible experience in infrastructure architecture, systems engineering or software development.


Experience must include:

1. Three years of experience building infrastructure in real-work environments (sizing, high availability system setup, and backup/recovery) and securing, designing, and implementing web service solutions using Java, Python, Bash, Ruby, or Perl.
2. Three years of experience with infrastructure security, hybrid architecture tools, such as scripting, monitoring, automated testing, configuration management, messaging, networking, source code repositories, continuous integrated servers, seamless, automated build script, and workload transition challenges.
3. Three years of experience with risk management and building security reference and compliance systems, such as firewalls, intrusion Detection Systems, Malware Management, Web Application Firewalls, Key Management Systems, Identity, and Access Control systems, for enterprise system deployments.
4. Three years of experience with technology consulting, evangelizing and building/ maintaining developer and client relations involving software and cloud computing technologies, such as AWS CloudFormation, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), Amazon SimpleDB/RDS databases, or AWS Identity or Access Management (IAM), etc.
