Overview & Responsibilities: Rackspace is looking for a DevOps Engineer LIII to manage the infrastructure of a globally distributed monitoring applications and Segment Support developer teams. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for tracking thousands of devices, including ownership of the development environment and deployment workflow.  The DevOps Engineer Job: We need DevOps Engineers who are generalists with a passion for large-scale distributed systems and are capable of working in every part of our system. We’d love to see you take an active role in helping the development team release features from design to deploy, even if that means touching 10+ repositories written in several languages within a single day. You're opinionated about monitoring, metrics and automation. You make conscious choices and can explain the reasoning behind them or teach a teammate what they need to know to review your code. We use comprehensive unit and integration testing to stay confident in the correctness of our changes to ensure product resilience and availability. We want teammates who want to build the monitoring tools they’ve always wanted.  DevOps Engineer Responsibilities: ·   Work with the Rackspace Monitoring, Metrics, Intelligence platforms & Segment ·       Provide in-depth and always-improving code reviews.·       Proactively identify and fix things before they break.·       Self-starter to effectively prioritize your work with minimal supervision.·       Maintain, troubleshoot and support the development, staging and production environments.·       Addressing technical debt to improve stability, performance and sustainability.·       Use an open-source collaborative development model, branching for each major feature, writing clear commit messages and PR descriptions.·       Resolve operational issues by collaborating with upstream support groups and other engineering teams.·       Form part of a rotational on-call schedule to ensure 24/7 support for escalations.·       Continuously streamline our deployment pipeline and look for areas to improve and implement automation. 

Tools We Use: ·       Cassandra, Zookeeper, Kafka, Scribe, Thrift, Docker, Redis, Elasticsearch, Hadoop, Statsd, Graphite, Chef, Nagios, Jenkins, Terraform, Helm and Kubernetes. ·       Jira & GitHub.·       GCP. DevOps Engineer Desired Qualities:·       Working knowledge of Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, Terraform, Helm or Google’s Cloud Build. ·       Skilled with at least one of C, Java, Node.js, Ruby, Python or GO. ·       Experience working with REST APIs. ·       Experience operating distributed systems. ·       Experience with high-availability, high-performance, open-source web technologies. ·       Experience with cloud platforms, open-source databases and caching layers especially GCP. ·       Web programming and scripting ability. ·       Working knowledge of software development methodologies including code profiling, regression testing, and continuous integration. ·       Working knowledge of Linux & Windows internals. ·       Experience operating production systems. ·       Active participation in GitHub, tech blogging, etc. ·       Understanding how to secure systems and following best practices in coding.
