Ring is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join our Operations team. You will be part of a production support team, ensuring customers have a great experience with our products and supporting our infrastructure. In this position you will have the chance to directly contribute to and improve our systems, processes, and products.

A day in the life
• Administer, monitor, and deploy systems and services on cloud platforms
• Assist leads with initiatives for upgrading and scaling systems to maintain and improve availability, reliability, and performance
• Support other technical teams in monitoring operating efficiencies and responding as needs arise
• Recommend alternative design and platform decisions
• Collaborate with technical leads to integrate an end-to-end design that is well documented
• Work with global teams of engineers, growing knowledge and skillset
• Participate in an on-call rotation

About the hiring group
The Ring Solutions Site Reliability Engineering team is a group of operations professionals who are tasked with ensuring that our products are reliable and that our customers have a great experience with them. We are responsible for monitoring the health of devices and services. We proactively work with cross-functional stakeholders to build robust systems to minimize service disruption and respond with corrective actions as needed.

Job responsibilities
· Administer, monitor, and deploy systems and services on AWS and cloud platforms
· Assist leads with initiatives for upgrading and scaling our systems to improve availability, reliability and performance
· Support other technical teams in monitoring operating efficiencies of the platform and responding as needs arise
· Recommend alternative design and platform decisions (not always green-field)
· Collaborate with technical leads to integrate an end-to-end design that is well documented
· Work with global teams of engineers, growing knowledge and skillset
· Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
· The shift for this position is Sunday - Wednesday, 6am-4pm

Basic Qualifications


· 2+ years of progressively responsible, hands-on operations experience in a high availability environment
· 2+ years of experience using and configuring system health and application performance monitoring tools
· 2+ years of experience in UNIX/Linux operating system
· 2+ years of experience managing servers, networks, and infrastructure in a cloud environment
· Demonstrated experience with high scale and/or mission critical systems

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with AWS – EC2, ELB, Route53, AutoScaling, IAM, S3, RDS, DynamoDB
· Solid knowledge of build systems and processes
· Solid knowledge of Distributed Systems
· Bias for process automation and orchestration
· Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms and relational databases
· Understanding of how commodity servers, operating systems, and network devices function, perform, and scale
· Understanding of Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and Agile software engineering practices
· Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations
· Recognition and adoption of best practices in documentation, testing, security, operational support at scale, and efficient use of resources
· Familiarity with AWS technologies from a customer perspective
· Clear written and verbal communication skills
