QUALITY SPECIALIST (TEXAS BUILD RELIABILITY) - 2ND SHIFT

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct detailed in-process and final inspections to launch vehicle assemblies and sub-assemblies, using detailed drawings, CAD models, and established processes to verify conformance to design requirements
  • Review and approve specifications and build documentation for completeness, accuracy, regulatory compliance, and quality objectives
  • Develop, maintain, and take actions to improve quality metrics such as first pass yield, non-conformance trends, and quality escapes
  • Work closely with technicians, inspectors, manufacturing engineers, and production management to identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assess existing processes and support continual improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate across disciplines to ensure efficiency and consistency across the organization
  • Support the material review board (MRB) process by managing non-conformance's, evaluating their root cause, and implementing corrective and preventive action, using tools such as 5 Why, fishbone, and others
  • Support the corrective action process and guide corrective action teams in development of corrective action plans, implement permanent solutions, and participate in evaluation of effectiveness
  • Identify, document, and resolve production and test anomalies in accordance with prescribed procedures and pursue corrective action as required
  • Support quality management system policies and procedure documentation, assess compliance to company and industry standards, initiate and lead continual improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Support issue ticket approval/closure of deviation issue tickets
  • Assist in site containment across all milestones and inventory locations help identify root cause and implement fix
  • Monitor documents for new releases ensuring changes communicated to relevant productions groups in Texas
  • Maintain process self-assessment inspections for each milestone on site and provide feedback to production management
  • Additional projects and tasks assigned as required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certification
  • 4+ years of quality assurance experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting design drawings and CAD models
  • Dedicated to adopting a Lean approach to quality without compromising safety or reliability
  • Ability to identify and maintain priorities for tasks and projects
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, both independently and with a team
  • Strong communication and technical skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated, driven, and committed to a team approach
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Experience with AS 9100, ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 13485, or similar quality management system
  • Practical experience with GD&T and skillful use of metrology tools and gages
  • Knowledge of quality tools such as lean principles, six sigma, root cause analysis and corrective action, advanced product quality planning (APQP), metrology, process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), control plans, and various problem solving approaches
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools such as design of experiments (DOE), statistical process control (SPC), analysis of variance (ANOVA), and Minitab (or similar)
  • Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic, be innovative, detail oriented, possess initiative, be positive, and be people oriented
  • A&P License

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is a 2nd shift position (start time between 1-3 PM) and working approximately 9.5 hours; hours vary based on operational needs and flexibility is required
  • Must be able to work all required shift hours, overtime and weekends, as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted, lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
  • Ability to work at elevated heights (up to 300 feet)
