Lead Systems and DevOps Engineer- Remote

Startup in Denver is growing and we need a Systems Engineer and DevOps Lead to join the team!

A disruptor in the automotive industry - transforming the sales process into a transparent experience for customers and providing the tools necessary for dealers to transition to a single point of contact.

Duties and Responsibilities

This role is not only a supporting function, but one of leadership as well. We need opinionated individuals that are able to craft new infrastructure solutions, and are ready to help us with our platform infrastructure. We are a multi-tenant platform with a rapidly growing customer base. Our infrastructure is scaling rapidly, and we need you to come help us plan for the future.

This position will be involved in all aspects of DevOps and System Administration in support of our SaaS application. This includes designing and enhancing AWS cloud environments, optimizing and maintaining CI/CD workflows, and leading future architecture planning both for our core functional infrastructure and data pipelines.

We need an expert in AWS services (Networking, Compute, Databases, Logging and Metrics), Container Orchestration, DevOps tools, Infrastructure as code, Cloud security. This role is an essential part of a broad effort to bring together Architecture, Systems Engineering, Software Development, Quality, and Security to build automation solutions that are highly reliable, resilient, and extendable.

Skills and Experience

Preferred:

  • Experience leading a team, and driving forward ideas from concepts to practical projects
  • Build and Manage AWS cloud infrastructure and automation
  • Build and manage CI/CD platform and release processes
  • Deploy scalable and secure microservices applications
  • Perform architecture and security reviews, identify gaps and develop remediation plans
  • Define, document, and maintain a strategic DevOps architecture roadmap that includes business, product, and technical considerations
  • Staying up to date on new Devops tools & techniques, and act as a driver of innovation and process maturity
  • Computing cloud cost models, network topology, platform services, and common storage options
  • Expert level with Agile methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with automated deployment of resources, Serverless deployments, Kubernetes clusters, AWS environments
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and fast change with an ability to adapt quickly and easily
  • Strong coding experience
  • Bash, PowerShell
  • SQL, REST, queuing frameworks
  • DevOps tools; Ansible, Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation, Jenkins
  • Extensive experience with logging and metrics tools
  • 3 or more years of experience working with cloud architecture on AWS, including, but not limited to EC2, RDS (MySQL), Elasticache, VPC, Security Groups, S3 and Cloudfront
  • Understanding of Blue/Green deployment strategies
  • Experience with implementing auto-scaling strategies on AWS
  • Experience with Linux server administration
  • Experience with application and server monitoring
  • Experience identifying and implementing security protocols to protects network resources and application data, including proficiency working with SSL/TLS certificates and VPN tunnels
  • Working with the development and QA teams to maintain and enhance CI/CD workflows using tools such as Jenkins and CircleCI
  • Experience with Docker or Kubernetes, or other container technologies
  • Can create and maintain documentation pertaining to all aspects of DevOps and System Administration
  • Working with external APIs

Nice to Have:

  • Understanding of AWS data pipeline tools such as RedShift, Glue, and Data visualization tools
  • Positive and flexible attitude
