Atlassian is continuing to hire with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. All new and existing Atlassians will continue to work from home until it’s safe to return to our offices. When our offices re-open, we will provide the choice to work from home or return to work in an office unless a job requirement makes it necessary for a particular role to be performed at an Atlassian office.
Atlassian helps teams everywhere change the world. Our products are revolutionizing the software industry and helping teams collaborate and craft the magic that delivers their best work. Think NASA launching the Rover on Mars or Cochlear gifting those born deaf with the ability to hear: your work directly impacts the products they use to advance humanity.
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our mission-critical Cryptor team of developers in the Sydney timezone. This team builds world-class platform systems which are essential to the reliability and performance of all Atlassian products. Cryptor is our novel high-scale platform service for key distribution (improving Amazon KMS!) and encryption/decryption of customer data.
Our security-critical work is key to a major new BYOK program. We collaborate with a variety of other teams across Atlassian who consume our services. You'll also use your analytical skills to make sure we're solving the right problems.
You'll be responsible for building effective teams, empowering them to achieve their goals, and putting those goals into broader context. Your greatest responsibility will be looking after the individuals reporting to you, coaching and supporting them in their professional development, unlocking their potential, and challenging them to step outside their comfort zone to grow and excel.

On your first day we'll expect you to have:

  • Understanding of secure software development.
  • Experience leading a development team in a people-leadership capacity.
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience of large scale SaaS systems and processes to operate them reliably.
  • Ability to drive technical excellence and operational standards, pushing innovation and quality.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience driving initiatives, setting goals and motivating teams to achieve outcomes.

Experience in any of the following would be highly valued:

  • Amazon KMS knowledge or similar (we're working on key management).
  • General AWS knowledge (SQS/SNS, Dynamo, S3), or similar experience with other public cloud offerings (e.g. GCP, Azure).
  • Employee performance & growth management.
More about our benefits
