The Amazon Devices team designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics, including the best-selling Kindle family of products. We have also produced groundbreaking devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Dash, and Amazon Echo. What will you help us create?

The Role:

As a Hardware Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining a full-suite hardware validation test infrastructure. We are building both desktop and cloud tools using modern frameworks and AWS infrastructure. We have an ambitious roadmap to delight our users so we are looking for candidates with a broad set of skills and the ability to creatively solve problems. In this role you will:
· Design and build significant parts of the test infrastructure (configuration managers, cloud and desktop services, data management systems, web UIs, analytics and more)
· Contribute to an automation framework which controls electrical bench measurement equipment (power supply, multi-meter, oscilloscope) and DUTs
· Review test processes and translate them into automated scripts
· Review test equipment as well as infrastructure and recommend improvements

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience
· 5+ years of experience writing test automation software
· Experience with at least one modern object oriented language (Java, C#, Python, Kotlin, PHP, TypeScript etc.)
· Experience with algorithms and data structures
· Experience partnering with hardware teams to define and implement firmware, drivers and validation tools
· Experience using of version control systems, code review, continuous integration and software testing best practices
· Experience applying CS and EE fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications

· Extensive knowledge of Python
· Experience writing web-based UI/UXs and dashboards
· Experience designing cloud-based solutions on AWS
· Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and ORMs
· Experience with concurrency and parallel programming
· Experience designing and implementing APIs for distributed computing
· Comfortable with command line interface in Linux and Android
· Ability to write on-device test utilities to be incorporated into our SW diagnostics to better control DUTs
