Infrastructure Engineer

What you bring to the role:

• 5+ years of software development experience- ideally in a SaaS/product development company
• Good knowledge, experience of cloud native technologies and latest cloud ecosystem trends
• Hands-on experience with container ecosystem tools such as Docker or Kubernetes
• You are a generalist and have broad skills in DevOps/infrastructure as code, databases, performance optimization, application design, and networking - especially application layer protocols like  HTTP, SFTP, SMTP, etc.
• Language polyglot: you have experience in one or more of the following- Python, Go, Kotlin
• Experience in building and scaling systems that use SQL as well as NoSQL datastores - preferably experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, RedShift.
• Experience with data ecosystem tools such as Kafka, Protobuf/Thrift, and Spark/Flink/Storm, and with data-flow programming tools such as Apache NiFi, Apache Beam will be a plus. 
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as CircleCI, Jenkins. We follow modern DevOps practices at VGS. Any experience with Cloudformation, Ansible, Terraform will be a plus
• An understanding of how to build for scale, but able to make pragmatic choices to move quickly - you have a strong bias for action
• Comfortable working in roles that at times may be customer-facing 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
• Experience successfully working with distributed teams across time zones will be a plus
