In this role, you’ll be expected to draw upon your technical skill set and make important contributions to our popular cloud database offerings, collaborating daily in an agile development environment with an extended team of experienced cloud engineers.
The IBM Cloud Hybrid Data Management (HDM) Infrastructure DevOps role is key to the success of dynamic IBM Data and AI organization. The primary focus of this team is to be the SRE (System and Reliability Engineers) and support the entire pipeline (dev-staging-production) deployments for all HDM SaaS offerings and ensure our customers experience least amount of disruption. Team members are expected to contribute to multiple areas of cloud infrastructure and build devops automation primarily in support HDM SaaS offerings (Db2 Warehouse on Cloud, Db2 on Cloud, Data Virtualization as a Service, Netezza on Cloud PaaS, etc.,) This technical role is also expected to explore AI/ML automation as part of AIOPS and integrate AI/ML in our HDM cloud infrastructure support. In general, members of this team will be responsible for uptime, upgrades, automating wide ranges of security and operational tasks, root cause analysis, and interfacing with peer organizations company-wide to solve complex problems for our customers.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Strong background in Unix/Linux administration and advanced shell scripting (3+ years)
- Experience developing product pipelines to optimize the process of deploying Software as a Service (SaaS/PaaS) within large-scale, cloud-based infrastructure (1+ years)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, both internally and customer-facing (1+ year)
- Working knowledge of non-IBM Cloud providers such as AWS, Azure. etc., (1+ year)
- Virtualization and Container orchestration (Xen, Docker, Kubernetes)Working knowledge and deployment of Kubernetes clusters (1-3 years)
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Knowledge and development of AI/ML models (1-3 years)
- Root cause analysis in cloud environments as part of problem determination including understanding of networking firewalls and load balancers, SSO (1 year)
