Role Purpose
The Desktop Support & Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for the day to day management and health of our internal end user systems. This role will manage the intake of on-site tickets for users with the highest level of Customer Service. The position will manage the end user systems via SCCM and JAMF to keep devices and applications up to date and compliant with modern standards. The position is responsible for the continuous monitoring and management of the networks, systems, and order management of the region to ensure issues are received/acknowledged and processing procedures are followed timely. The position will be responsible for managing issues, if necessary, with 3rd party vendors. 

Key Responsibilities;

  • Perform highly skilled and complex PC maintenance, repair, analysis and testing
  • Perform analysis testing and operations support for Active Directory and Office365
  • Maintain confidential data and information. 
  • Analyse problems; identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions
  • Operate and maintain Apple iOS and OSx hardware. 
  • Operate Windows based PC hardware and software. 
  • Exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs. 
  • Work cooperatively with users to provide basic direction and instruction with computer applications and systems. 
  • Ensure compliance with and follow standard practices and procedures common to computer networking and information systems work. 
  • Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • Positions at this level are required to work under remote supervision within a framework of established procedures
  • Incumbents are expected to perform a full range of duties with only occasional instruction or assistance
  • Understands the principles and practices of information systems as applied to a large and diversified public organization
  • Positions at this level frequently work outside the immediate proximity of a supervisor
  • Experience of 3rd line software and hardware support
  • Strong knowledge of Macintosh OS, Windows OS and MS Office products and strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to stay calm in stressful situations, especially when dealing with demanding customers and/or upper management 
  • May require occasional travel to remote locations. 
  • Responsible for all aspects of end-user PC provisioning including setup of hardware, software and peripherals. 
  • Can diagnose and resolve end-user network, VPN, WI-FI and local-area network access problems. 
  • Methods, materials, tools and equipment used in troubleshooting the computing environment. 
  • Principles and practices of training program development and presentation.   
  • Principles and practices of PC operation, maintenance and repair. 
  • Principles and techniques used in interacting with PC users.   
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and written
  • Able to analyse situations carefully and adopt effective courses of action.
