As a member of the Data Engineering team you’ll play a key role in building next generation solutions that continue to push the boundaries on service and experience we provide to sports fans all over the world. Your involvement begins at the beginning – an idea, which you’ll help develop and grow, being encouraged to find the best and latest tech to build solutions that would gain respect in our community.Working closely with the business you’ll be given the freedom to express your creative side in what you deliver. It’s an exciting team in an exciting company, and this role will suit anyone with a real passion for [data] tech and team spirit. The role is a varied one… we’re currently working on a number of projects. ·       Building a solution to integrate our warehouses (UK, China, Japan) into our central inventory system.Building this in AWS – API, GO, .NET, Aurora MySQL, Kafka.·       Performance review of our critical systems in preparation for peak trading period.SQL Server on-premise. Index strategy review. Sprocs. SSIS. Powershell.·       Designing a re-architecture of our application databases and transactional databases.SQL Server 2014, 2017, 2019 Enterprise editions in an AG across multiple data centres.·       Building a new BI Stack with SQL 2019 Enterprise + deploying it over multiple data centres.·       Moving on-prem applications to AWS.
Duties / Responsibilities: ·       Be the first point of contact for all project, data and database related queries.·       Ensure data platform is operational 24x7, with proactive monitoring and alerting.·       To diagnose and resolve data, integrity, job failures and alerts.·       Own problems from initial inception through to delivery, monitoring and support.·       Write code to develop new feature sets, solve problems, improve functionality of Fanatics systems and platforms.·       Troubleshoot, debug, enhance and improve existing Fanatics products, systems and platforms.·       Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to understand business requirements.·       Provide input and assistance to Quality Engineers; to ensure the delivery of well tested and high-quality solutions.·       Use guided and self-development to be constantly improving skills and knowledge. ·       Investigate new technologies and their application to solve business challenges.·       Encourage innovation in the team through new ideas, technologies and ways of working.·       Become a domain / tech expert and provide support to help others fill gaps in their knowledge.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience: Key Skills:•       Leadership.•       Team player.•       Experience of project lifecycle – we generally follow Scrum for projects and Kanban for support work.•       Experience of the development lifecycle.•       Experience in one or more database technologies – on-prem and cloud.•       High Availability or Multi-Data Centre / Region Configurations.•       Application and database schema design – 3+ years.•       Strong SQL Skills (or equivalent) – 3+ years.•       Experience with PowerShell, Python or similar scripting technologies.•       Experience of monitoring / tools.•       Experience of performance tuning at system/server and code levels.•       Ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently (production, data, application).•       Ability to identify inefficiencies in process and develop towards automation and improvement. •       Experience of working with large data sets.•       Strong technical and communication skills.•       Strong ability to quickly and independently master modern technology.
Advantageous Skills:•       Certifications.•       Application development using .net, GO or similar.•       AWS design, development and support.•       Multiple Database Technologies.•       Windows Server & Virtualisation Exposure.
