The Platform team creates the technology that enables Spotify to learn quickly and scale easily, enabling rapid growth in our users and our business around the globe. Spanning many disciplines, we work to make the business work; creating the frameworks, capabilities and tools needed to welcome a billion customers. Join us and help to amplify productivity, quality and innovation across Spotify. You will join a team where everyone share a common interest in distributed backend systems, their scalability and continued development. Together we try to find new ways to create a great Spotify experience for all our users at all times. Above all, your work will impact the way the world experiences music.
Core Infrastructure’s goal is to provide world-class cloud-native infrastructure to Spotify’s engineers. This involves key elements of our platform, including systems for observability, reliability, container orchestration and deployment, storage infra and auto-scaling tools, cost insights, service discovery, production networking, and perimeter ingress and egress. Our team’s mission is to modernize deployments of backend services, and we focus on creating infrastructure that automates deployments into a completely managed environment. We support our internal customers to ship code faster, more frequently, and with greater confidence. Our goal is to make Spotify’s backend scalable, resilient, and predictable to a point that operational responsibility is a very small burden on users.

What you'll do

  • You design, develop and deploy backend services that scale, are highly available, and are easy to extend.
  • You build and operate infrastructure, user tooling, and deployment pipelines.
  • As a team, we mostly build tools that deploy Containers to Kubernetes and GKE; languages we primarily use are Java, Python and a little Golang.
  • You collaborate closely with other specialists and become a valued member of an autonomous, cross-functional team.
  • You take operational responsibility for the services that are owned by your team, including taking part in an on-call rotation.
  • We want you to bring your whole self to work and strive to foster an environment that supports your individual growth

Who you are

  • A valued team player in a dynamic, autonomous, cross-functional agile team that inspires others.
  • Experienced in designing, analyzing, optimizing code, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experienced with Docker, Kubernetes, GKE, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Know how to write distributed, high-performance services in Java or Python and are experienced deploying and operating services on Linux.
  • Have a systematic problem-solving approach coupled with effective communication skills and drive.
  • Love working on a team where you constantly learn, experiment, and iterate quickly
