The Position
You will join the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team within AWS Infrastructure Operations Finance. In this role you will be the finance expert to create and implement project plans that improve the controllership of data center building rent expense. You will develop insights aimed to improve utilization of data center space and power capacity. You will partner with stakeholders in Accounting, Real Estate, Accounts Payable, and Legal to influence existing and in-flight platforms to meet these finance controllership objectives, or deliver a finance specific solution. You will be the primary global finance partner for some of the data center operations teams and other specialized teams that support the Global Data Center operations. You will drive both capex and opex budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis and reporting, month end close controllership and capital requests for the global data center operations teams with the support of local data center operations finance managers. You will have the strategic position of partnering with data center operations leaders and directors on modelling business cases, doing the needed due diligence and controllership and presenting these capital approval requests to the capital approval committee for review and approval. You will partner with the business leaders and directors to present their capital request supported by financial modeling to the capital review committee for approval. You will also define and maintain internal finance controls for any data center capital transactions and processes. You will also have the responsibility of providing project support, business support, headcount reporting and tracking and other ad hoc finance support to the business.

The FP&A team is responsible for managing the financial rhythms of the business, including the annual operating plan, long range plan, regular forecast process, and for providing analytical support to senior management. You will help establish the pace of the finance team to ensure it delivers actionable insights in a timely manner.
The Responsibilities
· Partner with broader AWS teams to influence in-flight projects to meet finance objectives.
· Develop a comprehensive project plan to socialize with stakeholders and leadership.
· Coordinate with global finance managers on any issue related to building rent expense.
· Streamline planning and reporting through improvements to process or prioritization.
· Drive month end reporting and variance analysis of actual spend versus projection.
· Build global forecasting models for opex and capex controllership for the data centers.
· Maintain needed globally consolidated staffing model and P&Ls for the supported teams.
· Support business partners in establishing a case for capital requests.
· Ensure compliance with finance and accounting controls and systems.
· Monitor and enhance existing processes and controls.
· Communicate financial metrics and business drivers to senior management.
· Create financial narratives to support key finance deliverables.

Basic Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or a related field
and minimum 5 years of finance experience, OR master’s degree and 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced analytical and business sense and a keen attention to detail
Ability to present ideas to a group of senior level managers
Advanced knowledge of Excel
Able to work well with cross functional teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks at once
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
Experience in TM1, SQL or other Business Intelligence tool is a plus
A work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations
MBA preferred
