Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on Kubernetes, containers, and microservice architecture within the DevOps team
  • Build and configure Kubernetes clusters in Google Kubernetes Engine using standard tools such as Terraform
  • Design and manage deployment solutions for multiple Kubernetes clusters, across multiple regions
  • Build best practices around Kubernetes and microservice development, and help teams within Geotab understand and implement these practices through documentation, workshops, etc.
  • Ensure that security best practices and hardening is consistently implemented across all Kubernetes clusters within the organization
  • Ensure that adequate troubleshooting tools, logging, and monitoring are implemented across all Kuberentes clusters within the organization
  • Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosing bugs and performance issues across production Kubernetes clusters as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3 - 5 years experience in an IT or DevOps related field.
  • Extensive experience with Kubernetes\OpenShift , Istio,Helm, container technologies such as Docker, containerd, rkt
  • Experience with Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure IaaS and Shell/Python scripting skills
  • Experience with Hashicorp tools such as Terraform and Vault
  • CI/CD tools such as Gitlab CI/CD or Jenkins
  • Experience with GitOps continuous delivery tools such as Argo CD, Octopus Deploy
  • Software development background in Python, C#, or Java
  • Experience working within a technical or engineering organization/knowledge of the high-technology industry an asset.
  • High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Able to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Must stay relevant to technology and should have the flexibility to adapt to the growing technology and market demands.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve to well-judged decisions.
  • A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
