Cyted is seeking an exceptional Platform Engineer to join our team. The Platform Engineer will support the development of new systems providing medical insights and managing diagnostic workflows. Technologies include unique new machine learning technology, highly robust and scalable online services, and web applications. A main responsibility is working with AI and software teams to streamline tech operations and processes. This includes but is not limited to management of continuous integration & deployment, infrastructure as code, cloud platforms, site reliability engineering, and security. The Platform Engineer will be part of a team responsible for developing and maintaining our mission-critical diagnostics platform.


  • Building and scaling AWS infrastructure using Terraform
  • Automate and improve development and release processes
  • Designing and delivering new platform capabilities
  • Integrating our platform with 3rd party services to extend capabilities
  • Setting standards for infrastructure
  • Ensuring that systems are protected against cybersecurity threats
  • Taking part in Agile and Continuous Improvement processes

Working pattern, location and salary:

The role is a full-time position with a standard 37.5 hour working week. The role holder may be required to work flexibly.

The Platform Engineer will be based at the Cyted’s Head Office, WeWork, 50-60 Station Road, Cambridge, CB1 2JH. The Platform Engineer may need to visit other company sites when and if required.

Qualifications and background:

  • Ideally a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role


  • DevOps or platform engineering experience
  • Hand-on experience with Amazon Web Services
  • Collaboration and version control using Git
  • Experience of modern CI/CD tools
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform)
  • Experience of working with AWS Lambda or equivalent deployment patterns (desirable)

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding of infrastructure / architecture for scalable software systems
  • Can work independently to move projects forward
  • Self-starter capable of planning and shaping the architecture of our backend services and interested in expanding your skills
  • Knowledge of Python 3 (desirable)
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs based on JVM languages (Kotlin) (desirable)
  • Knowledge or experience working with medical services or products (desirable)
