Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity, assuming candidates have eligible working rights and a sufficient timezone overlap with their team. As our offices re-open, Atlassians can choose to work remotely or return to an office, unless it’s necessary for the role to be performed in the office. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
Love staying ahead of the growth curve and experimenting with new software and environments? We'd love you to join the Atlassian Server Services Engineering team in Gdańsk as a DevOps Engineer to take care of systems serving millions of users worldwide. We are looking for someone who has basic experience in software development and would like to invest time in growing into the role. As an engineer in our team, you’ll build solutions to enhance availability, performance and stability of Atlassian services as well as automating away repetitive work. The best person for this role is someone that has a collaborative spirit - in our world, it’s not about having all the answers, it’s about saying "I don't know" and working on finding solutions with your team, rather than starting with an assumption. The team needs someone who can ask questions, learn from others and turn chaos into order. One thing we promise: you’ll never be bored.

What you will do:

  • Build solutions to help manage Atlassian services
  • Work side by side with the product family and platform developers to maintain and improve reliability and performance of our production and non-production systems
  • Gain deep technical knowledge of our services, build tools for automation, monitoring and improving things and, most importantly, have fun doing it
  • Investigate and sink your teeth into why something didn't work out the way it should - and once you've done that, work out what we can do to stop it from happening again
  • Drive a reduction in interrupt work (firefighting) and deliver a corresponding increase in service quality

On your first day, we expect you to have:

  • Scripting experience (Python, Bash, etc.) - we don't want you doing repetitive work
  • Practical knowledge of Python web frameworks (Django and/or Flask)
  • Basic knowledge of Docker
  • Good communication skills with fluent English (both spoken and written)
  • A collaborative spirit - in our world, it’s not about having all the answers, it’s about sometimes saying "I don't know" and working on finding solutions rather than starting with an assumption

It's great – but not required – for you to have:

  • Knowledge of a configuration management tool (for example Ansible/Puppet/Chef/Terraform)
  • Experience with integrating services using REST interfaces or similar techniques
  • JS (React preferred) experience
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS
  • Basic understanding of Kubernetes
It’s a long list, but your teammates will guide you through onboarding and you’ll have enough time to become familiar with our tools, processes and people.
