Xero is a beautiful, easy-to-use platform that helps small businesses and their accounting and bookkeeping advisors grow and thrive.
At Xero, our purpose is to make life better for people in small business, their advisors, and communities around the world. This purpose sits at the centre of everything we do. We support our people to do the best work of their lives so that they can help small businesses succeed through better tools, information and connections. Because when they succeed they make a difference, and when millions of small businesses are making a difference, the world is a more beautiful place.
About The Role
We have on offer a Junior/Intermediate DevOps role within our team for someone looking to either extend their knowledge or make a sea change from the typical Developer/Infrastructure Engineering roles available.
The role will not only have some hands on elements such as working on Pipelines or AWS services, but also opportunities to grow your Design and operations experience too. Ultimately this role will lead into a more strategic coaching/design role such as Senior Engineer.
In short, we are looking for the right inquisitive nature coupled with an ability to converse with people in a meaningful way that we can grow into a Senior Consultant/Coach within our team.
You'll be joining a small yet cohesive team of professionals with a myriad of backgrounds that include consultancy, Infrastructure Engineering and software development. While it’s definitely true that the team is looking to augment it’s already impressive technical skill sets, we’re really looking for someone who can add to our culture by bringing wit, humility and a laugh or two.

About You

  • Ideally you will be comfortable conversing with people from many backgrounds and opinions; from non-technical stakeholders to Architects and of course, hands on Developers and Engineers.
  • You are interested in taking your background in Infrastructure or Development down a different path then the traditional manager or Architect roles, but still want to be an integral part of building beautiful solutions.
  • You are interested in how things work from many different vantage points and like the idea of understanding how good ideas and solutions become real world solutions and would like to know more about the ‘dark arts’ of keeping the lights on.
  • You’ll bring some IT experience (Development, Infrastructure or perhaps as a Technical BA) and enjoy explaining and helping your teammates and those around you. Ideally you’ll have an interest in good design and what makes frameworks such as those for security and architecture.
  • You’ll come to us with at least a professional/commercial interest of AWS concepts & CI/CD pipe-lining. More importantly, you’ll be willing & able to discuss these with technical stakeholders and put forward suggestions based on your existing technical knowledge.
