The Role

Infrastructure Engineers are responsible for keeping all customer-facing services and other Product Madness production systems running securely and reliably. You will apply good engineering principles, operational discipline, and automation to the production environments.

You will

  • Have a proven track record as a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer
  • Work closely with the team and the development teams from around the business to advise on platform reliability best practices
  • Design and operate with security and reliability at the heart of everything you do
  • Make monitoring and alerting be based on symptoms and not SLO breaches
  • Document everything and work tirelessly to automate the tedious so you can focus on the challenging
  • Make the deployment process as simple frictionless as possible - A non-event
  • Produce excellent documentation. To share your knowledge and remove the need to learn things twice
  • You will be part of the Out-Of-Hours team
  • You will evangelise our Operating Principles
  • Savour the creation and communication of post-mortems

Required Skills and Experience

  • Three years commercial experience of:
    • primarily GCP but AWS will be useful too
    • Kubernetes and Docker

Core skills and attributes

  • Customer focussed and an excellent communicator
  • Strong Linux administration skills
  • Proficient network practitioner and familiar with Load Balancing and security best practices
  • Expert DNS
  • excellent knowledge
    • Ansible
    • Helm
    • Terraform
    • SQL
  • Excellent knowledge of tooling such as Ansible, Helm, Terraform and bonus points for Chef
  • Experience with source control management (Git)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD tooling and methods
  • Take on-call duties according to the agreed schedule

You will ideally have

  • Commercial experience of working in a regulated environment, such as gaming or PCI-DSS
  • You can dive into Chef when required
  • You have a software development background
