In this role, as a Sr. IC Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for the reliability engineering on semiconductor components such as SoC, WiFi Chips, memory, DSP etc. which will be applied onto new and emerging devices; you will be developing and building inventive technology and mechanism to resolve complex reliability challenges. You should have in-depth understanding of semiconductor design, manufacturing, and testing. You should also have strong experience on Reliability statistics, Reliability testing and a good understanding of consumer electronics to influence design for reliability. Your responsibility including:
• Define new test specifications, methodology and test coverage to assure semiconductor components can meet Amazon product reliability requirement.
• Identify and validate semiconductor component risks and work with cross functional teams to mitigate these risks.
• Provide hands-on experimental design and coordinate execution with semiconductor suppliers.
• Perform reliability prediction of semiconductor failure mechanisms on semiconductor ahead of product development phase and scale it to cover the entire product lifetime in field application.
You will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff and outside partners including suppliers to drive key aspects of semiconductor component definition, execution and test. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.

Basic Qualifications


• Degrees plus direct working experience: degrees from Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, with 3 years working experience after PhD, 5 years working experience after Master or 7 years working experience after Bachelor’s degree in semiconductor industry.
• Experience in semiconductor design, manufacturing, packaging, and device physics. With experience in semiconductor metallization, semiconductor package interconnects, metallic compounds, metal diffusion, and electro-migration.
• Experience with semiconductor component reliability testing such as ESD, Latch-up, ELFR, HTOL, THB, Environmental testing and Mechanical testing including shock, drop, vibration, bending etc. and board level reliability testing.
• Experience with semiconductor reliability failure mechanisms at both silicon and package level.
• Experience in data analytics and statistical analysis. Able to perform reliability analysis such as failure rate estimation, lifetime predication, accelerated factor studies, reliability modeling and reliability allocation.
• Experience with basics of failure analysis analytical techniques and material characterization tools and able to drive root cause of reliability testing identified failures.
• Experienced communication skills in writing and presenting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Consumer electronics experience is preferred.
• Experience with PCB design and daisy chain design for reliability testing.
• Adept in Design of Experiments (DOE) and able to design test vehicles to isolate failure mechanisms.
• Familiar with analytical techniques such as Optical Microscopy, CSAM, TSAM, X-ray, SEM/EDS, FIB, FTIR, TEM, TMA, DMA, DSC etc.
• Experience with fracture and adhesion mechanisms of materials and material interfaces. Understanding the relationship between microstructure versus mechanical and physical properties of materials used in electronic packaging.
• Knowledge of industry testing standards, such as JEDEC, IPC, AEC and ASTM.
• Hands on experience with troubleshooting and debug utilizing lab instrumentation, such as oscilloscopes, digital multi meters, tool schematics and board files.
• Experience in programming and scripting for data analysis. Familiar with statistical software, MATLAB, JMP, and Reliasoft.
• This position will require some domestic and international travel.
