The CloudOps Manager is a contributing team member and people manager role with experience within CloudOps and consulting. They are focused on applying leadership, strategy, and individual contributor skills to ensure the success of Levvel’s employees, clients, and projects. This role could also serve as a CloudOps lead for a strategy or implementation engagement. This is an entry-level management position. 

Billable Work:

  • Able to act as sole individual contributor on client work
  • Maintains a constant feedback loop with project leadership as it relates to delivery success, project contributions, best practices, and growth areas
  • Takes ownership of assigned project work
  • Able to delegate project work to team members, perform reviews, provide constructive criticism and validate successful completion
  • Able to define individual tasks to support project goals and final deliverables
  • Takes active participation in applicable project meetings. For example, scrum ceremonies, workshops, and internal checkpoints
  • Capable of leading client meetings
  • Implements best practices on documenting their project work to ensure successful handoff to our clients
  • Raises objections to the applicable person / team and proposes a solution
  • Works collaboratively with clients and other team members
  • Able to solve problems by looking at multiple solutions and weighing tradeoffs to get to the core of business issues quickly and efficiently
  • Strong capability in managing priorities to meet deadlines while retaining consistently high-quality outcomes
  • Brings well-reasoned feedback to the team about improvements to the project/solution/team/process
  • Able to provide time estimates for work efforts with increased accuracy
  • Work closely with the CloudOps Senior Managers and the CloudOps Capability Lead to provide domain expertise to support Client Solutions in scoping of project work
  • Responsible for exploring and understanding additional aspects of the project’s lifecycle that extend beyond their specialization while assisting team members in learning/understanding nuances of the domain
  • Works closely with the CloudOps Senior Managers and the CloudOps Capability Lead to enable the Client Solutions team to deliver quality work product to clients.
  • Responsible for delivery quality within their scrum team
  • Cultivates successful client relationships in order to become a trusted advisor within domain expertise
  • Provides informal mentorship and supports all consultants within the project / scrum team
  • Able to deliver on strategy engagements (non-implementation) as an individual contributor
  • Able to deliver on strategy engagements (non-implementation) as a CloudOps lead

People Management:

  • Maintains positive employee relations with direct reports through regular 1:1s
  • Conducts performance reviews
  • Provides ongoing coaching and feedback, ensuring appropriate updates to employee Performance Management in Zenefits
  • Helps to monitor employee sentiment
  • Supports direct reports in defining and executing on short-term and long-term career goals
  • Can work with engagement leads to help align skills of their people to projects and address any performance issues of their direct reports
  • Coordinates with the CloudOps Senior Managers, CloudOps Capability Leads and Human Resource team members on performance issues and terminations
  • Helps to facilitate conversations across the organization to aid direct reports in building relationships
  • Actively participates in employee onboarding
  • Helps to identify training needs and provides additional opportunities and resources for training purposes
  • Regularly attends Levvel’s monthly management meeting and management meetings specific to function
  • Advocates on behalf of direct reports
  • Administers compensation discussions with direct reports as part of the annual compensation review
  • Actively participates in the promotion process to aid direct reports in building promotion packet, advocating on their behalf, and participating in committee review
  • Advocates for direct reports to participate and engage in the Levvel culture, including but not limited to the Mentorship Program and Chapters
  • Offers direction for bench time that aligns with growing new skills to help with utilization

Internal Responsibilities:

  • Participates in internal initiatives such as Brand Awareness, CloudOps Focus Areas and Employee Programs
  • Actively provides mentorship to Levvel team members which may include being part of the organized Mentorship Program. Informal mentorship is also encouraged
  • Develops marketable skills demonstrable via certification beyond existing certifications, also include recertification efforts: AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, or Microsoft DevOps Engineer Expert, or GCP Professional DevOps Engineer, or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer, or Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Application Development, or AWS Solutions Architect Professional, or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or GCP Professional Cloud Architect, or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Advanced Automation
  • Participates in interviewing candidates for the CloudOps team
  • Encouraged to contribute to deliverable-enablement initiatives within the CloudOps team
  • Encouraged to contribute to Marketing content initiatives
  • Supports Senior CloudOps Management in running internal efforts for said function
  • Encouraged to provide subject matter expertise within the sales process. This may include working with Client Solutions Lead to define engagement models

  • 5+ years of work experience in a related field
  • Employs a hands-on leadership approach on client projects, empowers team members enabling a more distributed decision making process
  • A strong and passionate champion for the team
  • Completes all required Levvel Management Training program deliverables
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical data and approaches to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Enables a positive and collaborative work environment for the team
  • Thrives in a cross-functional team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capable of adapting to a fast changing work environment, with the ability to learn and apply knowledge and skills to address personnel and technical challenges that emerge
  • College degree or practical experience related to Computer Science
