Job summary
We are a passionate team working to build a best-in-class healthcare product designed to make high-quality healthcare easy to access.

We are looking for Software Development Engineers (SDE) who are passionate about building development tools and "secure by design" infrastructure that make systems development faster and more secure while improving our ability to debug, monitor, and analyze system performance, cost, as well as other technical and business metrics. We are not just builders, though: we're advisors, educators, and mentors for other teams in our organization. This role requires a passion for both learning and knowledge sharing.

You would be part of a team that owns the shared infrastructure that drives the Amazon Care business, including shared libraries and core services. We set the standard for engineering excellence and security so that other teams can focus more on healthcare related features to support healthcare practitioners and patients.

Inclusive Team Culture

Here at Amazon, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. We have ten employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally. We have innovative benefit offerings, and host annual and ongoing learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences. Amazon’s culture of inclusion is reinforced within our 14 Leadership Principles, which remind team members to seek diverse perspectives, learn and be curious, and earn trust.

Work/Life Balance

Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. It isn’t about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it’s about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives.

Mentorship & Career Growth

Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our senior members enjoy one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.

A day in the life
This team handles projects the impacts most Amazon Care engineering teams. For example, we work on authorization packages and services, encryption services, and other tools that improve Amazon's Care security posture. The security bar is high in Amazon Care due to healthcare privacy concerns. We are also improving the overall developer experience by providing tools that makes our lives easier.

This team has some very experienced engineers who work across the organization to promote higher quality code and improve our overall architecture.

This team prioritizes projects that have the most impact.

About the team
The Core, Infrastructure, and Architecture (CIA) squad was formed in 2021 and is here to help with solutions to core problems that exists across Amazon Care. As the organization grew into squads where each squad was focused on specific verticals a need to create a horizontal, cross-functional team developed. This cross-functional team needs to be aware of the problems each team faces and recognize problems that transcend individual squads. Our mission is to improve the software platform, architectural design, and security posture across AC. The efforts of this team will result in shared software (i.e. code snippets, libraries, and scripts), services, tools, documentation, process, and configuration that is consumed by or impacts other AC squads. The CIA team will rely on the AWS Well-Architected Framework as their north star.
