Amazon Robotics Compliance, Automation, Development Engineering (ARCADE) team is seeking an Automation engineer to help build and maintain support tools. ARCADE team designs and codes modules for applications that assist in self-service systems and escalate to other teams. These applications support facilities that fulfill millions of Amazon.com customer orders per day.

Automation engineer collaborates with teams across the entire organization to design, build, test, automate, and ensure stability and functionality of local and remote support tools throughout the entire lifecycles. The ideal candidate has previously implemented practices or tools for system automation and stability, knows one or more coding language and the associated automated testing modules, and understands the SDLC and handling of UI, APIs. The candidate is a team player with creative approaches for solving complex problems and implementing solutions.


RESPONSIBILITIES
· Build and deliver web applications, dashboards, infrastructure automation, process automation, and monitoring.
· Collaborate with teams across the entire Amazon Robotics organization.
· Test implemented designs.
· Handle code deployment methods for all developed tools.
· Monitor metrics and develop ways to improve them.
· Lead technical workshops and implementation projects.
· Apply security patches, bug fixes, and new features for existing tool suites.
· Evaluate and prioritize new tool requests by determining business impact, integration requirements, and data sources.
· Monitor production applications and respond to outages.
· Drive process and service improvements to increase day-to-day operational efficiency.
· Follow established best practices and procedures.

Basic Qualifications


· Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering.
· Hands-on experience with mainline programming and scripting languages such as Shell, Python, Ruby, Perl, Java, JavaScript, or C++.
· Experience with AWS and its APIs.
· Knowledge and experience using RESTful APIs.
· Experience deploying software on Linux operating system or other UNIX variants.
· Understanding and experience working with Databases, Java, and JavaScript.
· Expertise in best practices for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to explain complex technical concepts to peers and customers with varying levels of technical expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

· Knowledge of IP networking, VPN's, DNS, SSL, HTTP, load balancing and firewalls.
· Experience working with front-end frameworks, such as Angular or React.
· Experience with development and automated testing.
· Understanding of microservices and distributed application architecture.
· Experience in managing large-scale highly available distributed system.
· Strong focus on metrics and operational excellence.
· Strong knowledge of security principles at all layers of the stack from networking to applications.
· Experience with build release management tools.
· Understanding of SQL databases such as MySQL, SQL Server, Redshift DB, DynamoDB.
· Experience contributing code and collaborating in mid-size teams.
· Excellent leadership and teamwork.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with ability to manage ambiguity.
