About the Role:
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be crafting next-generation infrastructure to support the continued development of Slideshare’s mission.  You will be responsible for supporting the delivery and operation of key components such as container orchestration infrastructure on ECS, service mesh on App Mesh, monitoring and alerting in Datadog, MySQL on RDS, Redis on ElastiCache. You will be a part of an application team that is focused on the SlideShare product and will collaborate with and share learnings with other SREs in Scribd.

About the Team:

  • Scribd is in search of a Senior Site Reliability Engineer for the SlideShare engineering team to work on the ground floor of revitalizing SlideShare and to find ways of bringing the value of Scribd to SlideShare users. We continually strive for inclusivity and strongly value diversity.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of production site reliability engineering experience
  • An appetite to learn and grow professionally
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (we're remote!)
  • A desire to write automation to reduce toil and scale non-linearly
  • Mentoring skills: experience with training and educating teammates or colleagues on contemporary operational best practices.
  • Infrastructure engineering passion
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools and thoughts about their respective strengths and weaknesses
  • Software development background
  • Familiarity with git and common software development practices
  • Ability to write tests
  • Capable of reading and understanding the code in order to participate in the code review process.
  • Ability to lead deep technical design discussions within your team, and across partner teams.

  • Architect a modern service-oriented AWS infrastructure
  • Help define the deployment pipeline and process to improve team velocity
  • Maintain uptime for a product used by 250 million people every month
  • Simplify and streamline the current development environment
  • Improve observability into the health of our services
  • Participate in the incident review process to improve quality and reduce alert fatigue
  • Have a broad impact on the future and direction of the product and infrastructure
