System1 is looking for an experienced DevOps leader to join our team!  As Director of DevOps, you will lead a talented team of engineers who build production services for high-traffic websites and ensure reliable operations for our fast-moving technology organization.  System1 products touch 100s of millions of users per month and our platform processes 5B+ data points every day. If you’re looking for a high impact role in a globally scaled tech company, then you will love leading DevOps at System1.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading a mature DevOps team (10+ employees) within a large engineering organization (100+ engineers) with several cloud environments supporting diverse lines of business. You should have exposure to different DevOps methodologies and best practices for enabling engineering teams in high-availability environments. You should have deep experience with cloud native technologies and expertise in CI/CD deployment strategies, real-time monitoring & alerting services, containerization, and other aspects of providing core infrastructure. 
System1 has announced a deal to go public later this year. With that context, the ideal candidate will have exposure to the IPO process and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team before we begin our next phase of growth as a public company!

The Role You Will Have

  • Lead and grow System1’s talented team of DevOps engineers
  • Evangelize DevOps best practices and set cross-org standards for building software-defined infrastructure including source control, deployment, provisioning, microservices architectures, monitoring and logging, and more
  • Work closely with other tech leads to empower 100+ (and counting!) System1 engineers to build testable and scalable software 
  • Foster a healthy, collaborative DevOps culture that enables transparency, communication, and collaboration across teams
  • Support tech due diligence for mergers and acquisitions 
  • Lead a critical function of the company through the process of going public and into our exciting next phase of growth 

What You Will Bring

  • 5+ years of experience hiring and leading high performing DevOps teams
  • Experience running production operations for high volume web applications
  • Deep experience with AWS cloud technologies and Infrastructure as Code (IAC) approaches to provisioning infrastructure (AWS required, GCP a plus)
  • Experience developing CI/CD workflows and exposure to a variety of best practices and tools such as Jenkins and Spinnaker
  • Demonstrated experience with packaging strategies and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes 
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, such as SOX, GDPR and CCPA, and demonstrated experience maturing general controls to meet SOX compliance requirements
  • Experience as a software developer (Python preferred) and enthusiasm for streamlining the software development lifecycle 
  • Passion for cutting-edge technology and a keen eye for selecting tools to take our platform to the next level
