A Lead Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud/Virtualization) is a Cloud and Virtualization specialist in large-scale, complex, and distributed web infrastructure that engages in direct customer communications regarding the availability, scalability, reliability, and performance of their applications running on Dedicated and/or Managed Public Cloud.
Please note we are looking for high proficiency in Mandarin and English for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • To design and oversee the customers’ Cloud and Virtualization computing strategy
  • Pro-actively seek opportunities to review solution architecture then put forward and implement proposals for improvement
  • Serve as a consultative resource for customers to assist them in achieving their business objectives by providing solution design/review and implementation/optimization for Cloud solutions
  • Support the Customer Success Managers in customer projects
  • Respond to support requests and co-ordinate Rackspace/Customer support teams where appropriate
  • Ensure appropriate technical documentation is in place for customer solutions
  • Provide support in tuning applications and infrastructure
  • Design, develop, test, and implement new configurations, architectures, and standards
  • Provide leadership and guidance when customer application-level downtime issues arise and provide RCA support as requested.
  • Show ownership of issues through resolution and maintain customer loyalty by serving customers via phone, tickets, and email
  • To deliver customized cloud virtualization from different vendors including VMware, AWS, Azure, GCP and AliCloud
  • Provide technical direction and assist in scheduling customer maintenances and ensure appropriate quality checks have been completed
  • Respond to support requests and co-ordinate Rackspace/Customer support teams where appropriate
  • Ensure appropriate technical documentation is in place for customer solutions
  • Attend and participate in customer meetings as required
  • Identify opportunities for growth and share with CSM

Key Requirements

  • High proficiency in Mandarin and English. Desirable in Cantonese
  • Tenacious problem solver, will own issues until full resolution
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with great attention to detail
  • Strong rapport and relationship building skills with both internal departments and external customers
  • A good level of business awareness and commercial acumen
  • Solid understanding of Enterprise class Networking, Virtualization and Storage technologies
  • Extensive experience working on Virtualization (VMWare) and Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP and AliCloud) platform – configuration, build and performance tuning
  • Experience of architecting and managing production environments across Physical, Virtualized and Cloud technologies
  • Working knowledge of common hosted web and database technologies
  • Understanding of IT industry working practices / methodologies – ITIL foundation certification desirable but not essential
  • Due to 24x7x365 operation, must be willing to be available for occasional out of hours work
