Spreetail's Software team, known internally as Toolkit, consists of Engineering, Product Management, and User Experience. This team builds a completely home-grown software to compete against top players in the ecommerce industry.  The software controls our business from beginning to end: ordering, marketing, inventory, customer service, and accounting. We use the latest and greatest libraries and development methodologies to build elegant solutions to complex, real-world problems.   

This position is 100% remote:

  • In order to qualify for remote work, candidates need to reside or be willing to move to Indiana.

As a DevOps Engineer II, you will:

  • Increase overall system reliability and reducing the impact of bugs/outages across a complex software ecosystem. 
  • Mine and share data on performance and availability of new and existing software systems. 
  • Automate and harden deployed software and processes, reducing the average time to deploy new software. 
  • Collaborate with software teams to create high-quality software. 
  • Contribute to projects and tooling that impact all software teams.
  • Share technical knowledge and promote technical growth throughout the department.
  • Work with teammates and other teams to make decisions based on data collected and analyzed.
  • Promote best practices in software infrastructure through examples and teaching.
  • Continue to improve established processes. 
  • Commit to lifelong learning and a desire to harness the benefits of new technology.
  • Focus on team successes.

Who you are:

  • Able to complete projects without supervision.
  • Able to coordinate implementations with other teams across the organization.
  • Able to create and maintain documentation.
  • Experienced with agile software development and configuration.
  • An acting member of the on-call rotation.
  • Passionate about implementing the engineering standards into software.
  • Proficient in one programming language or experience in multiple languages.
  • Experienced with CI/CD.
  • Understand integration testing and utilize testing frameworks, and when to use them.
  • Skilled in accessing relational databases.
  • Able to follow schema patterns and make minor changes to existing schema.
  • Knowledgeable of common architectural design patterns.
  • Able to implement code independently using best practices with minimal review changes.
  • Knowledgeable about clients and servers.
  • Able to execute code locally and use basic environment configuration.
  • Familiar and understand distributed environments.
  • Familiar with IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and Hybrid Cloud Service.
  • Experienced with Linux sysadmin, comfortable with scripting (Bash, Python)
  • Experienced utilizing one or more data management systems.
  • Experienced with automation activities including provisioning, configuration, scaling, and monitoring of systems
  • Able to look at the implemented monitoring solution and optimize application code.
  • Passionate about mentoring others to support growth.
  • Knowledgeable regarding areas of technical debt in systems and infrastructure.
  • Strong ability to contribute to and maintain quality standards.
  • Willing to shadows technical interviews.
  • Active in planning activities and follows change management processes.
