Overview
This position is for a 1st shift. The shift details will be as follows: Tue-Sat from 8 am-5 pm Central.   
As a Multicloud Solutions Provider, Rackspace Technology is hiring Azure Cloud Engineers to deliver a Fanatical Experience with Azure that includes a wide range of services and features to help customers make the most out of their cloud strategy. Using your technical expertise, you will help customers maintain their application stability and assist with rapid changes using native Azure and 3rd party tools.
Through a hands-on approach, you will be responsible for supporting customers with tasks including responding to application and infrastructure downtime alerts, performing limited environment and OS changes, creating automation, and interacting with customers via tickets and phones.

Being successful in this role requires:
Working knowledge of Azure Products & Services, Scaling, Load Balancing, CDNs, Networking etc.
Intermediate working knowledge of Windows or Linux operating systems – experience with supporting and troubleshooting stability and performance issues
Basic understanding of central networking concepts: VLANs, layer2/3 routing, access lists & load balancing
Intermediate understanding of the design of native Cloud applications, Cloud application design patterns and practices
The Azure Cloud Engineer is expected to take initiative and advise on potential pitfalls that a customer may encounter and suggest alternatives that may better serve the stability and security of the customer's solution.
The role requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines as well as the ability to work independently at times, or with minimal guidance.
You may lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for ongoing activities or objectives and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.     

You Will:

  • Maintain and proactively improve stability of Azure Public Cloud environments
  • Respond to customer support requests via both the ticket and phone systems within our SLA commitments.
  • Lead functional and contribute to cross-functional business continuity/transformational projects and customer engagements (both technical and non-technical), delivering key objectives for the Organization      
  • Troubleshoot performance degradation or loss of service as time-critical incidents
  • Ownership of issues, including collaboration with other teams and escalation
  • Support the success and development of others in the team
  • Deliver a Fanatical Experience on the Microsoft Azure public cloud platform.
  • Carry out administrative tasks such as patching and backup.
  • Drive strong customer satisfaction (measured through the Net Promoter Score system)
  • Lead tasks relating to system architecture enhancements, problem management, fleet management, process improvement, reporting, product integration and customer infrastructure
  • Develop technical training for all Rackers supporting Rackspace Supported Cloud Product
  • Mentor and assist Rackers across the organization           
  • Provide technical expertise underpinning communications targeting a range of stakeholders - from individual contributors to leaders across the business             
  • Collaborate with Account Managers and Business Development Consultants to build strong customer relationships    
  • Collaborate and share knowledge with other Engineers and Administrators on the support floor    
  • Other Incidental tasks related to the job, as necessary

You Have:

  • Strong knowledge of the Azure Cloud Platform Product and a minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience with Azure
  • Strong skills in at least one of the following languages: PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or Java
  • Strong knowledge of Linux or Windows OS, including but not limited to: Server Failover Clustering, Active Directory, IIS 
  • Proficient web programming and scripting ability             
  • Proficient knowledge of designing, building, implementing, analysing, and troubleshooting distributed, highly available systems      
  • Proficient automation skills with at least one configuration management system such as Terraform, Azure ARM, IaC, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt, or other such tools     
  • Proficient knowledge of software development methodologies including code profiling, regression testing, and continuous integration 
  • Proficient understanding of services and protocols, configuration, management, and troubleshooting of hosting environments, including web servers, databases, caching, and database services Intermediate knowledge of Project Management methodologies  
  • Proficient knowledge in the application of current and emerging network software and hardware technology and protocols
  • Intermediate networking skills
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Azure storage options, fibre channel SANS, NFS, vSAN, DAS, SMB, and Storage Spaces Direct
  • Intermediate knowledge/troubleshooting of Disaster Recovery technologies (e.g. Azure Site Recovery - Replication)                           
  • Intermediate knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market              
  • Passionate about technology and has a desire to constantly expand technical knowledge         
  • Detail-oriented in documenting information and able to own customer issues through resolution           
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work under pressure               
  • Demonstrate sound problem-solving skills coupled with a desire to take on responsibility     
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, both highly technical and non-technical             
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical and technical audiences              
  • Fluency in multiple languages is a plus    

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field    
  • At the Manager's discretion, 4 years of additional related experience may substitute for the degree requirement; if substitution allowed, regional equivalent to High School Diploma is required    

Certifications:

  • Requires 1+ Azure Certifications for Azure Specialists, AZ-104 at minimum preferred, AZ-303 or higher ideal
  • Prefer relevant technical certifications around MCSE/MCITP, MCSA, SQL Server, Red Hat, MySQL, CCIA, CCEE, CCEA, CCA
