Geotab is seeking a Workspace Infrastructure Specialist who will be responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of global data centers, LAN rooms and the physical IT environment. This role is accountable for all tasks associated with the installation, acceptance, and maintenance of a variety of IT equipment. What you’ll do:
As a Workspace Infrastructure Specialist, your key area of responsibility will be managing all aspects of the datacenter and LAN room operations. You will also facilitate upgrades to existing on-premise systems including firewalls, switching, wireless, printers, meeting rooms etc. You will need to work closely with Technical Services team, contractors, building management as well as with external vendors.
To be successful in this role, you will be a strong team-player with strong interpersonal relationship building skills. You will also be highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.  In addition, the successful candidate will have a strategic mindset, a keen sense of priorities, along with an ability to pivot as the landscape changes. The successful candidate will also have strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve and come up with well-judged decisions.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Manage all aspects of the datacenter and lan room operations.
  • Oversee the operations of 24x7x365 data center and LAN rooms services.
  • Facilitate upgrades to existing on-premise systems including firewalls, switching, wireless, printers, meeting rooms etc.
  • Plan, implement, and support the rollout of IT systems at Geotab facilities worldwide.
  • Manage audio/video equipment including Userful LED walls, TVs, and collaboration spaces (Meeting rooms).
  • Ensure requests are handled in a timely fashion and documented in the ticketing system.
  • Be accountable for all interconnection services including installation, restoration and maintenance of fiber optic cabling, fiber optic patch panels, cabling, patch panels, etc.
  • Coordinate with multiple vendors for data cabling, ISP services, lan rooms, cabinet purchases, etc.
  • Monitoring and reporting on global facilities including currency levels, repairs, outages etc.
  • Plan new installs including designs, cabinet assignment, power provisioning, etc.
  • Interacts with different Geotab teams including facilities, vendors, contractors, and building management to provide a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Travel to office renovations or deployments as required to help manage and facilitate work.

What you’ll bring to this role:

  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree or equivalent experience preferred in Electrical or Mechanical area of study.
  • IT or Data Centre Certifications such as A+, Server+, Network+, ITIL, CDCP or similar a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT Systems or a related role.
  • Vast experience with data center infrastructure such as generators, UPS, PDU, ISPs, cabling etc.
  • Trouble ticketing system, purchase order management, budgeting management.
  • Experience with audio/video systems including Userful LED walls and meeting room equipment (Google Meet, Cisco etc.).
  • Able to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Must stay relevant to technology and should have the flexibility to adapt to the growing technology and market demands.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve and come up with well-judged decisions.
  • Strategic mindset, has a keen sense of priorities, along with an ability to pivot as the landscape changes.
  • A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
  • Flexibility to work a work schedule that accommodates different time zones.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lb.
  • Comfortable using a 10 foot ladder.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time and to travel internationally.
