Position                            Cloud Architect            Company                            Rackspace US, Inc.                          Job site address               1 Fanatical Place, City of Windcrest, San Antonio, TX 78218 QUALIFICATIONS:·         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field and 5 years of industry experience in technical engineering and/or pre- or post-sales engineering and architecture.  ·         Minimum 5 years’ engineering experience in migration, implementation, and production management.  ·         Any experience with all of the following: OS technologies for customer configuration: Windows, RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.; More than one IaaS platform(s) - AWS, Azure, Google, VMWare; More than one configuration management tool; Infrastructure automation tooling (terraform, cloud formation, etc.); Application deployment/configuration processes; Handling large scale, multi-tenant systems—ideally in a setting with many multiple customers with multi-tenant systems; Developing infrastructure, configuration and deployment automation at large scale/high complexity; Diagnosing and debugging complex matrixed problems across multiple disciplines (app, infrastructure, db, etc.); Articulating nuances between common technologies leveraged in Automation/DevOps world such as Configuration Management: Ansible vs. Puppet vs. Chef vs. Saltstack, etc. or AWS vs. Azure vs. Google vs. VMWare, etc; Guiding others at an advanced level of depth on how to build out a module/cookbook/role in the configuration management tool of choice, including requirements/scope, parameterization, code structure, testing, and deployment usage within a larger set of modules; & translating the link between a customer’s technical environment and their business demands into technical solutions. 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Supports Professional Services engagements with ‘engineering muscle’ and technical consultation assistance, to help customers design systems that are purpose-built and well suited to their target infrastructure.  Responsible for implementing and leading the implementation of technical solutions, customer migrations (rolocations, colocations, consolidations, cloud migrations), and data center modernizations as outlined in the Statement of Work.  Seeks to build and document reusable, repeatable toolsets, components and modules for future use with other clients.  Collaborates with consultants to align customer business strategies and IT architecture, ensuring Rackspace products and services are built and delivered in a sustainable and scalable manner.  Works closely with key technical personnel of client organizations.Designs and implements migration solutions as defined by SOWs and migration plans.  Monitors, logs and tests customer configurations for performance and stability.  Coordinates and consults with SAs and Sales teams to further streamline and detail out the build, deploy and management process for scoping and design of new and updated systems being deployed into the Rackspace ecosystem or other ecosystems.  Proactively identifies potential issues and works through resolution with internal and external stakeholders.  Collaborates with consultants to ensure customer configurations are built and delivered with long-term sustainability and scalability.  Troubleshoots issues, performs root cause analysis and performance tuning.  Implements new technologies in customer environments, including upgrades, virtualization projects, and advanced infrastructure projects.  Performs network analysis for client networks, identifies deficiencies, recommends and implements improvements for stabilization.  Generates and maintains configuration documents for all client production networks and systems.  Works with external customers, internal support and build teams to determine how best to leverage tools and techniques involving infrastructure as code, configuration management and other DevOps-type techniques to improve delivery quality, speed and experience.  Networks with key contacts and stakeholders internally and externally to drive process and efficiency in implementations.  Serves as a technical expert for support and customers alike.  Actively takes ownership to address issues and solve problems, understanding up and downstream impacts and designing/delivering solutions appropriately.
