Team Description: Kitware’s Data and Analytics team helps internal and external customers deliver data and AI workflows with expertise in emerging web and software infrastructure technologies. About the Projects:Kitware collaborates on a multitude of basic and applied research and development aimed to improve critical issues in today's world in order to advance health care, improve national security, combat human trafficking, and understand climate change. Our collaborators include the top universities from around the world, national research labs, medical device manufacturers, car manufacturers, financial institutions, government organizations, and many others. The projects range from extending our open source libraries and applications, such as Girder and VTK, to developing proprietary domain-specific vertical applications for a wide array of platforms including web and mobile devices. The Data and Analytics team focuses on building Python and JavaScript-based web applications that provide solutions for data management, analysis, and visualization.

In This Position You Will:

  • Collaborate with our distributed research and development engineering team as well as external collaborators and customers to design and implement new features and fix bugs for our platforms and web applications
  • Responsible for reproducible builds and infrastructure as code, continuous application deployment and monitoring, and site reliability engineering. 
  • Contribute to the overall architecture design of web applications
  • Maintain scalability, code integrity, and usability of applications
  • Participate in our team’s software quality assurance practices
  • Work concurrently on multiple projects for a variety of customers
  • Be an excellent communicator with remote teammates

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related area, plus at least 2 years experience in DevOps, preferably in a technical/software industry, or equivalent amount of education and experience
  • Experience with building continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) pipelines and automated testing 
  • Experience using DevOps tools and environments such as Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS
  • Experience using or extending Continuous Integration (CI) tools such as GitLab CI using Ruby on Rails or Go. 
  • Experience designing and building software solutions from the ground up based on business requirements
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience working as part of a software development team
  • This position is remote, however, the candidate must reside within the United States and the individual State is subject to approval

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Back-end service programming in Python
  • Experience debugging systems deployed on cloud infrastructure using container based workload
  • Experience with AWS cost optimization
  • Experience deploying software and/or managing jobs in High Performance Computing (HPC) environments
  • Practical knowledge of Database Management Systems (DBMS)
  • Knowledge of HTTP and related standards such as REST
  • Willing to collaborate proactively with remote team members
