Are you an engineering student graduating in fall 2021 or summer 2022 looking for full-time employment after graduation? Do you enjoy complex technical systems and possess the ability to mentally decompose complicated processes into actionable steps? SpaceX’s vehicles are complex integrated vehicles that execute even more complex missions. In order to maximize success, SpaceX develops rigorous automated test campaigns to exercise all flight systems in the build, test, and fly stages. With high stakes ranging from safety of human lives to network uptime for businesses that rely on internet connectivity from our satellites, our automation-enhanced operations allow us to respond quickly to off-nominal events, gain richer situational awareness to inform decision-making, and gather intel to prevent repeat challenges.  

Full-time employment is available with a variety of engineering teams across all company programs including Dragon, Falcon, Satellites, Starlink, and Starship at Brownsville, TX; Cape Canaveral, FL; Hawthorne (Los Angeles), CA; McGregor (Waco), TX; and Redmond (Seattle), WA. No matter the team or program you will come in and make an impact right away, working on creative solutions to real aerospace challenges.


  • Develop, champion, and execute projects to advance the state of SpaceX operations
  • Develop automated test procedures that evaluate the flight-worthiness of the spacecraft
  • Contribute to automated test and flight infrastructure (hardware and software) as necessary for automated test development
  • Closely collaborate with a wide range of engineering staff and highly skilled technicians on a daily basis
  • Work with a government and commercial customers on pre- and post- flight preparations for human spaceflight
  • Troubleshoot and develop long-term solutions for technical problems in collaboration with the larger SpaceX workforce


  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Experience authoring and reviewing software
  • 1+ years of experience in test, automation, or integration engineering (academic projects and internship experience qualify)


  • Creative problem solver that can bring multiple disciplines together with the ability to assess risk and make operations decisions without all available data
  • Experience in control and monitoring of complex automated systems and risk assessment/reduction of the system
  • Experience utilizing software tools to solve complex problems (Python, C/C++, Java, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Linux based operating systems
  • Experience automating complex systems and writing fault detection control logic
  • Systems knowledge of space vehicles and redundancy architectures
  • Knowledge of basic orbital mechanics
  • Creative, passionate problem solver that can thrive leading multidisciplinary teams through fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding design and integration campaigns
  • Strong sense of accountability, integrity, and team focus with extensive multi-tasking and organizational experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with strong multi-tasking, organizational, communication and documentation skills
  • Strong sense of accountability and integrity with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere
  • Strong interpersonal skills (examples: leading a student organization or working successfully in teams)


  • Extended hours and weekend work may be required to support critical project and mission milestones
