TS Power Plant - Operations Manager

Nevada Gold Mines is looking to hire an Operations Manager for the TS Power Plant. The Operations Manager will be responsible for plant operations, personnel, and optimum performance while ensuring the plant adheres to the Nevada Gold Mines culture of Zero Harm and is environmentally compliant.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring that the operation of the power plant is in a safe manner to achieve zero harm and providing effective leadership to operating personnel.
  • Ensures the plant is operated in compliance with all state and federal environmental applications, permits, and regulations.
  • Responsible for the development and training of plant personnel and that all operational procedures are followed including safety and environmental. 
  • Building successful teams that are highly motivated.
  • Continuously improve operational policies and procedures for optimal plant performance. 
  • Consistent communication between operations crews.
  • Plant performance monitoring, troubleshooting equipment failures, and deficiencies, and corrective actions
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager and Engineering to properly prioritize equipment maintenance schedules and availability.
  • Reporting to the Plant Manager the Operations Manager will be partly responsible for plant weekly, daily, and real-time load scheduling with outside parties. This includes working with commercial partners and all groups (Engineering, Maintenance, Safety, and Environmental) on plant load status and availability. 
  • Assist with planned and forced outages to ensure the plant is returned to service in the shortest possible time.
  • Ensuring compliance objectives are achieved for NERC/WECC reliability standards by assisting in collecting evidence and developing compliance procedures.
  • Ensures timely delivery of chemicals, fuels, and communication with vendors. 
  • Proactively address issues for satisfactory conclusions, including issues with plant personnel and equipment.
  • Takes decisive actions in plant disciplinary issues and shows no bias or favoritism to plant personnel.
  • Is a team member in emergency response for natural events, incident command, strategic planning, and what-if planning.
