Technology Development, Intern

The Role:

Life Edit is seeking a summer intern to join our highly collaborative Technology Development group. This team is focused on the development and characterization of Life Edit’s novel gene editing programs prior to transfer to preclinical evaluation and clinical advancement. They will also possess a strong sense of curiosity for gaining experience in genome editing technologies.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

• Perform routine cell culture to maintain and utilize various cell lines for experimental purposes
• Gain experience in planning and executing experiments, under the guidance of senior team members, to assess new gene editing systems in different cell types
• Interpret experimental data with guidance and contribute to experimental designs to address the next logical steps based on previous results
• Critically summarize experimental data (individual and team) to present results internally at various team and company meetings
• Maintain meticulous records of experimental methods, tool development, and protocols
• Follow current literature in the field of gene therapy and genome editing

Requirements:

• Candidates should be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular biology, or a related field. Research experience in genome editing is highly preferred
• Experience in tissue culture including maintenance culture, transfecting, and analyzing mammalian cells using cell-based assays (ex. flow-Cytometry, cell proliferation and viability assays) is highly preferred
• Experience with molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, DNA/RNA extraction and purification, NGS library preparation) is highly preferred
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
