The Podcast Mission is the team within Spotify responsible for building the best tools for podcast creators. We have two platforms that help us deliver a great creator experience: Anchor (the platform that allows you to create, distribute, monetize, and grow a podcast, all for free), and Spotify for Podcasters (the platform that makes it easy to understand and engage with your listeners on Spotify).

We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer Intern to join the Home team responsible for helping podcasters discover the tools available to grow their audience. Our team consists of hardworking engineers that share a common interest in the integration of different systems, their scalability and continued development. You could be working with everything from client-side to the server-side development, and have a genuine impact on the team’s decisions while working in a friendly, informal, agile environment that supports each individual.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate with other engineers, product owners, and designers to tackle exciting and challenging problems around podcast tooling.
  • Be a valued member of an autonomous, multi-functional agile team.
  • Learn and interact with our software architecture and how to develop Java and frontend services which serve thousands of podcast creators.
  • Work with continuous improvement integration and testing, automating infrastructure operations and improvements in backstage console and its API. 

Who you are

  • You are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or a Bootcamp certification in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or a related field of study.
  • You have a graduation date in 2023.
  • You have dabbled in frontend and backend development via prior internships, coursework, and/or projects.
  • You have experience building with backend and frontend technologies like Java, Typescript, React.
  • You have an understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms.
  • You care about quality and you know what it means to ship high-quality code.

Where you'll be

  • We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
  • Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the Americas region in which we have a work location. Preferably in New York.

  • Working hours? We operate within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration. 

Our paid summer internships last for 10-13 weeks and start at the beginning of June. The last day to apply is March 3rd, 2023 at 10AM EST.

The United States hourly rate for this position is 33.00 USD (Undergraduate First Year & Sophomores), 42.00 USD (Undergraduate Juniors & Seniors), 49.00 USD (Masters) & 58.00 USD (PhD) per hour plus a one time intern stipend of 2,253 USD. This position is overtime eligible. These rates may be modified in the future.
