Our platform aspires to offer hundreds of spotify data practitioners a seamless experience to deploy, monitor, and operate their data pipelines. We think of our solutions end to end, working with design and other engineering counterparts and incorporating feedback from our community of data practitioners to offer a great developer experience. We are a distributed team and like to work asynchronously while making the most out of opportunities when we work together, optimizing for collaboration and knowledge sharing.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate with other engineers, product owners, and designers to solve exciting and challenging problems for Spotify’s data practitioner community.
  • Learn about developing in Backstage, an OSS platform for building developer portals built at Spotify, and help craft the UIs for our data processing platform.
  • Work on backend systems that support the platform’s user experience.
  • Work in an environment that supports your individual growth by providing you with exciting work and the freedom to acquire new skills and experiment via hack time.

Who you are

  • You have a graduation date in 2023.

  • You have experience in frontend and backend development via prior internships, coursework, and/or projects.
  • You have an understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms.
  • You care about quality and you know what it means to ship high-quality code.
  • If you are passionate about data engineering and/or distributed systems that is a big plus.

Where you'll be

  • We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
  • Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the EMEA region in which we have a work location.
  • Prefer an office to work from instead? Not a problem! We have plenty of options for your working preferences. Find more information about our Work From Anywhere options here.
  • Working hours? We operate within the Central European and GMT time zones for collaboration and ask that all be located in that time zone.

Our paid summer internships last for 10-13 weeks and start at the beginning of June. The last day to apply is March 10th, 2023 at 10 AM CET.
