We are seeking a highly motivated cancer biologist to join our Target Biology team.  The successful candidate will play a key role in target validation and mechanistic biology efforts by implementing cutting edge molecular biology, cell biology and genome engineering techniques to determine essential target functions and test mechanistic disease hypotheses in disease-relevant model systems.  The Target Biology team will generate data packages enabling the triaging and prioritization of targets identified by our data sciences and chemical proteomics teams based on an understanding of genomic data, function, mechanistic relevance to disease biology, and therapeutic index.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate novel therapeutic targets through genetic and pharmacological approaches
  • Design and execute a series of experiments to drive in depth target identification and validation. Elucidate mechanistic biology to inform targeting modality, and indentify biomarkers to generate hypotheses for early patient stratification
  • Keep up to date with the latest scientific advances in technologies and trends in oncology research and development, and contribute to group strategy
  • Mentor and direct junior lab members
  • Provide interpretation and analysis of results and present findings in cross-functional project team meetings.
  • Maintain excellent communication across internal and external team members

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD. with a focus on cancer biology, cell or molecular biology, genetics or a closely related area of study
  • At least 4 years of post-graduate work in oncology research and a deep knowledge of cancer biology (industry experience a plus)
  • A deep and broad understanding of cutting edge genetic engineering technologies (CRISPR, RNAi and lentiviral transduction)
  • Hands-on experience with assay techniques typically used to study protein regulation in cells (TR-FRET, EMSA, ELISA, co-immunoprecipitation, reporter assays, proteomic techniques, etc.)
  • Exceptional scientific rigor and commitment to the highest-quality research with outstanding organizational abilities and scientific execution
  • A strong record of achievement, including publications in high-impact journals
  • The desire and ability to contribute to teams working on challenging scientific problems and first-in-class therapeutics
  • A highly engaged, self-starter who is creative, innovative, communicative and possesses both a collaborative and goal/results-orientated style
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment, while employing tact, patience, diplomacy and a collaborative spirit
