ROLE OVERVIEW 

The Benchling Solution Advisor is a senior consultant responsible for building credibility and trust with our largest customers by developing cross-functional strategies and solutions. The Solution Advisor uses Solution Assessments, roadmaps, and enterprise architectures to build an in-depth understanding of the customer’s use cases, R&D model and objectives. They create executive-level output that current state analysis and future state recommendations using leading practices. This includes covering areas of improvement, innovation and laying a foundation to scale through enabling technology. The Solution Advisor ensures that Benchling’s top customers get a solution that meets their needs precisely.

The Solution Advisor is responsible for sophisticated scientific and technical issue identification, needs analysis, solution design, business case development, executive validation, and presentation. The Advisor’s responsibilities include business analysis and project management including client interaction. They use successful fact finding, coordination of internal Benchling resources, client validation, and final executive presentations in their work. 

Solution Advisors will have a strong executive presence and must have prior successful executive interaction. They are particularly adept at connecting scientific and technical challenges to leading practices solutions. They also have the capacity to bridge customer challenges to Benchling capabilities and identified value.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Operate independently with assigned customers, segments, or domains.
  • Develop enterprise level Solution Assessments, roadmaps, and enterprise architectures in conjunction that unlock significant expansion with Benchling’s largest customers.
  • Operate with some level of ambiguity in helping account executives, sales management, professional services, partners, product, and other cross functional team members understand how to engage and participate in assessments.
  • Work with team members to develop assessment processes to build repeatability and quality in assessment execution.
  • Handle ambiguity by taking asks from a customer and mapping them to recommended solutions. Often use cases will be new, variable, and sophisticated, and will require crafting new ideas and new ways of working through a complete offering.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • It is highly preferred that candidates have 5-10 years experience in a scientific domain - particularly biologics, industrial biotech, or early/late development.
  • Ideal candidates will have a Masters or PhD in a scientific field or work experience that gives them exposure to scientific fields.
  • Energetic around developing relationships with customer technical and scientific team members and creating compelling assessments, roadmaps, architectures, and proposals.
  • Ten or more years of shown success influencing senior technology leaders to inspire change in a customer-focused role.
  • Experience creating written deliverables that assess current state, propose a future state solution, outline the value, and a roadmap to deliver on a case for change.
  • Effective at cross-functional leadership. Many Benchling experts contribute to assessments and this person needs to provide leadership that sets everyone up for success.
  • Fluency in English and other languages is a plus.
