Software Engineer, .Net UI Foundation

Grammarly is excited to offer a remote-first hybrid working model. Team members can work primarily remotely in the United States, Canada, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, or Portugal. Conditions permitting, teams will meet in person a few weeks every quarter at one of Grammarly's hubs in San Francisco, Kyiv, New York, Vancouver, and Berlin, or in a workspace in Kraków.

We believe this balanced, flexible approach gives our team members the best of both worlds: plenty of focus time along with in-person collaboration that fosters trust, unlocks creativity, and further fuels innovation.

Grammarly team members who will be collaborating in Berlin must be based in Germany, Ukraine, Poland, or Portugal.

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for engineers with a background in .NET and Windows application development to join our UI Foundation team. As a front-end focused software engineer at Grammarly, you will be working on high-impact projects, such as building UI frameworks and tools (Server Driven UI, Design Systems, and build tools) and speeding up the work of respective teams. You’ll collaborate with multiple teams and constantly calibrate assumptions about problems they face.

Grammarly is growing rapidly, and there are challenges in scaling systems and processes as we accelerate our feature development across multiple product offerings and verticals. There is a lot of opportunity for ownership.

Your impact

We aim to help users achieve their goals wherever they communicate. That’s why we have integrated Grammarly with the Windows platform: to make effective and mistake-free writing even more ubiquitous. As part of the UI Foundation team, you will impower other .Net engineer at Grammarly by building engineering tools and frameworks. 

In this role, you will:

  • Contribute to creating the foundation of a robust and well-thought-out architecture.
  • Innovate to break through technical limitations and deliver delightful features.
  • Build cross-platform UI frameworks.
  • Ensure the product is performant by applying your knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
  • Ship production code using C# and .NET to one of our most strategic flagship product offerings.

  • Is able to collaborate in person 2 weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub where the team is based.
  • Has strong software engineering fundamentals, including knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
  • Has strong knowledge of the C# programming language and .NET framework.
  • Has strong knowledge of OOD and OOP.
  • Has strong knowledge and practical experience with multithreading (TPL, asynchronous computations).
  • Is excited about finding an optimal solution in situations of uncertainty.
  • Enjoys fast-paced delivery and a consistent feedback loop.
