THE INTERNSHIP:

As a Software Engineering Intern, you will be working alongside our team members of Research, Development and Operations. You will be exposed to many aspects of the software development process and your work may include research, development, user-interface testing, quality assurance testing or related duties/tasks as assigned. During the internship, you’ll be expected to be learning, growing, and making mistakes both in terms of technical skill and professionalism - this may include reading, prototyping, experimenting - with the guidance from a manager and mentor. 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Working in an agile software development environment utilizing modern technologies and practices
  • Supporting the Alerting area of our application 
  • Gaining experience with .NET, AWS (Lambda, Kinesis, Fargate, etc.), Typescript, and data repositories on a microservice platform 
  • Actively contributing ideas for product improvements and solutions to technology challenges
  • Taking abstract ideas and innovating on them, adding creativity and value
  • Showing a passion for continued learning, staying abreast of new technology and trends
  • Delivering clean code supporting consistent user experience and product quality 
  • Writing unit and integration tests for your team’s code 
  • Assisting with testing, debugging, and troubleshooting across the Code42 technology stack 
  • Helping to estimate and prioritize backlog 
  • Participating in team design discussions and code reviews, asking questions, contributing and accepting feedback 
  • Collaborating with teammates across the product development organization
  • Actively learning and growing - you are not expected to be an expert in anything yet

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with at least two years of coursework completed 
  • While being mentored, this individual should have the ability to work relatively autonomously, be self-driven and excited about the quest for knowledge.
  • Must have development skills in any of the following: Java, C/C++, C#, JavaScript, or a related object-oriented language 
  • Clearly able to communicate technical ideas to peer in written and verbal form 
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative environment, both offering and asking for help when it is needed 
  • Self-confidence, willingness to ask questions and take initiative
  • Ability to work full time (40 hours a week) from May 30th - August 18th (expected dates)
  • Ability to work hybrid (in office 2 days a week)
  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for employment, if not currently employed by Code42. 
  • Rate of pay for this position is $23.00/hour
