BigCommerce is disrupting the ecommerce industry as the SaaS leader ecommerce growing, mid-market businesses. We enable our customers to build intuitive and engaging stores to support every stage of their growth.

Our B2B Platform team is searching for a Python Software Engineer II to help build and grow a new and exciting team, B2B. We will be developing new B2B Shopper and Merchant experiences for the BigCommerce platform, and you will be joining at the inception of this team. You will be a key decision-maker in how we engineer the solutions to the complex problems faced by B2B merchants as they bring their businesses online. You’ll work closely with other engineering teams, UI designers, and product managers to help assess the scope and technical concerns as well as advocate for best practices that improve software quality.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build beautiful, scalable products and be knowledgeable in the back-end domain
  • Build high-performance, maintainable APIs using Python
  • Advocate for modern development practices and tools
  • Build new features with a focus on testability and extensibility
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain and improve quality
  • Support an open, positive, and energized culture

Who You Are:

  • At least 2 years of experience building production APIs using Python
  • You’re an engineer who has completed CS, CE, SW, MIS or equivalent degree or has relevant work experience
  • Experience with at least one python web framework such as Django or Flask
  • Working knowledge of SQL systems like PostgreSQL
  • Experience building RESTful JSON APIs
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
