Site Reliability Engineering Manager

Due to major growth we are expanding our Technology team in Perth and are currently looking for a Site Reliability Engineering Manager to join the team. 

In this role, you will use your technical and leadership skills to ensure highly reliable, scalable and responsive software systems. Planning, delivering and maintaining products that delight our customers and stakeholders.

We have some seriously cool technology powering our systems! To give you a little taste, we use containers which run on ECS Fargate and EKS. Our infrastructure is provisioned with Terraform, and for our CI/CD pipeline, we have a mix of CircleCI, Github Actions, and Argo. To ensure our systems are always available and reliable, we use OpenTelemetry with Honeycomb for tracing, Sumo Logic for logs, and the Grafana/Prometheus stack

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the team by example through a combination of hands-on leadership, demonstrating best practices, and coaching them towards success
  • Build a culture of reliability within the engineering teams and establish processes and policies that drive products to meet their performance, uptime, speed of delivery and quality expectations as defined by their SLI and SLOs
  • Strive to improve the reliability posture of VGW through a solid understanding of resiliency techniques and patterns such as load balancing, throttling, back pressure, circuit breaking etc
  • Execute on learning and development plan and provide regular progress updates with Engineering line manager
  • Provide technical guidance to improve the availability, scalability and responsiveness of VGW software systems. 

What you will bring to the role:

  • Experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or related field.
  • Experience managing and leading a team of SRE, DevOps or Engineers.
  • Exposure to cloud-based infrastructure, preferably AWS.
  • Strong understanding of automation and orchestration tools
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
