Senior Marketing Manager - Japan

Smartsheet is seeking a Senior Marketing Manager to drive all marketing activities in Japan, and run end-to-end cross-channel marketing programs to support our growing Japan-based sales teams to achieve their targets as well as help drive our brand in the region. Operating as part of the APAC marketing team and wider marketing organisation in the US and UK, this is our first marketing role on the ground in Japan and will join a newly formed team in our brand new office in Tokyo.

 

This is a broad marketing role with responsibility for delivering everything from sponsored and hosted events, locally led-campaigns and localisation of HQ-led initiatives - through to content production, sales collateral/case study development and overseeing the translation efforts of marketing materials; including channel and digital marketing.

 

You will be working closely with the local sales team, broader APAC business, cross-functional stakeholders and external agency partners and vendors and will have first-class stakeholder management skills together with experience working as part of a broader collective team to drive results. The ideal candidate is results-oriented, proactive and enthusiastic when it comes to managing events, campaigns and programs that help sales teams to be successful. This role will be reporting directly to the Director of Marketing - APAC (based in Sydney) with a dotted line report to the Japan Country Manager, and will be based in Tokyo, Japan.

 

With a commitment to investing in the Japan region to better serve new and existing customers, Smartsheet is forming a Japan-based team in 2023. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of Smartsheet as a founding member, working with an outstanding team to build and expand the Smartsheet brand across a new market.



You Will: 

  • Deliver sponsored and Smartsheet-hosted events from end-to-end including strategy/planning, project management and post-event analysis and reporting
  • Execute locally led-campaigns, including enterprise and industry focused programs, as well as localisation of HQ-led campaigns
  • Support the production of local customer stories, working with a cross-functional team and external copywriters
  • Liaise with Japan channel partners on all co-sponsored events and joint initiatives - and work closely with our APAC Channel Marketing Manager to align on partner needs and objectives
  • Manage local content production process to support our campaigns and lead-generation activities 
  • Amplify activities via PR and our social media channels, as and when relevant
  • Create sales collateral and sales team Outreach sequences as needed to support campaigns
  • Manage relationships with local partnership and industry bodies and associated sponsored programs
  • Work in partnership with our Demand Generation team to optimise activity in the region and help oversee the localisation of content as required
  • Ensure alignment with our New Business teams, Client Development teams and Sales Development Representatives across all campaigns and projects, including associated lead follow-up processes and reporting
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in HQ including brand, creative, content, product marketing, events and research teams
  • Work closely with external agency partners supporting with PR, events, content and campaigns
  • Ensure tracking and reporting of all programs and initiatives - tracking ROI and key learnings
  • Maintain responsibility for budget tracking/management for all field marketing initiatives
  • Provide input/feedback to help shape and influence the unique Japan marketing needs and approach

 

You Have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing would be preferred
  • Minimum of 8-12+ years of B2B marketing experience
  • Preferred experience in Outreach, Google Suites, Salesforce and Tableau
  • Communication skills: Native level of Japanese and business level of English (verbal and written)
  • Proactive, self-starter, with high energy and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Prior experience at a technology company is highly desirable, as is experience working in global/matrixed organisations 
  • Ability to work in a small team environment, but also work effectively with the broader APAC business and all cross-organisational functions.
