About the team
The Corporate Affairs team protects and enhances Careem’s reputation while building mutually beneficial partnerships with governments across the region. We engage a diverse and growing mix of stakeholders including customers, regulators, partners, entrepreneurs, Captains, colleagues and the general public. We develop strategies to connect all stakeholders to Careem’s journey, build lasting relationships, and ultimately create an enabling environment to build the most trusted technology platform in the wider Middle East.
Formed by policy, communication, social impact and creative specialists spread across nine cities in six countries, the team is driven by a mission to simplify lives, inspire the technology ecosystem and advance development across the region. What you'll do
The Internal Communications Senior Specialist will be Careem’s internal journalist, content creator and expert on internal communication platforms. They’ll have the opportunity to work with teams from all parts of Careem to tell the best stories from the business and ensure that our content effectively reaches all 1400+ colleagues spread across our 10 markets and other remote locations. One of the primary responsibilities for this role will be to write, create and edit engaging content, articles, posts and business updates that inspire and align colleagues to our purpose, culture and strategy. They will also manage our internal platforms and channels, ensuring they work seamlessly, while developing creative new ways to optimise content for each. The role will also support the internal communications team in collecting and reporting on analytics from the internal platforms to improve and grow engagement.
- Write, edit and create content for our internal platforms aligned with overall team objectives in the form of news articles, business stories, product launches and announcements.
- Become the champion of Careem’s unique tone of voice, while using passion and the strength of creative content to keep colleagues informed and engaged with our business and company strategy.
- Fully understand and manage day-to-day operations and the technical backend of our internal communications channels.

Key Accountabilities
Strategic writing and creative content creation
- Write long and short-form creative content, at times under short deadlines, for internal campaigns and initiatives including product launches, strategic initiatives, colleague interviews or updated policies.
- Be an internal journalist in the company by reading, researching and speaking to stakeholders across the business to drive strategic awareness among colleagues.
- Connect with Careemers to write real stories about our colleagues, captains and communities and support narratives about our purpose and values.
- Think outside the box and find new ways to drive the company’s strategic narratives and bring our culture to life through videos, memes and interviews.
- Support the curation and editing of content for the company All Hands presentations.
- Collaborate with the internal communications team on content creation for internal campaigns.
- Field and manage requests to the internal communications team to ensure that our principles of right message, right time and right people are applied to all channels.
- Collaborate with the design team to manage the creative design requests for internal content.

Support the success of our internal events, such as the company-wide All Hands, by collaborating with the IT, Real Estate and Culture & Community teams.
Channel management and content strategy
- Oversee day-to-day management for our current, and future, internal communication tools including our colleague intranet, broadcasting chat and Q&A platform.
- Develop and execute the strategy for our colleague intranet, while creating and editing content that drives engagement with company strategy.
- Research and experiment with new features to ensure the intranet remains one of the go-to information sources of news and updates for colleagues.
- Oversee intranet governance and access, while training champions in other teams to build their own content.
- Manage our internal Q&A platform for our company-wide All Hands events, support other teams with access and ensure we utilise new features to increase engagement and improve colleague experience.
- Maintain the backend of our internal mailing platform, manage email and newsletter templates with our design team, and keep audience lists up to date on a monthly basis.
- Manage relationships with our platform providers, track payment schedules and research new tools that could enhance the Careem colleague experience.
- Record and report on analytics from our key platforms to track engagement and traffic.
What you'll need
- 3-5 years of experience as a communications professional, journalist, content writer or copywriter
- Background in communications, publishing, marketing, agency, business preferred but others with the relevant skills can apply
- Strong command of the English language with exceptional writing skills in a variety of topics from business strategy and long-form news writing to lighthearted, short and fun content
- Ability to write high-quality content quickly and under tight deadlines
- Confidence to research, engage and communicate with others in the business to put together a full narrative for a piece of content
- Proactive self-starter attitude in creating content and following up with peers
- Ability to understand business objectives and how content fits into company strategy or a campaign
- Collaborative attitude when it comes to working with a team
- Experienced in stakeholder management in a wide range of teams
- Sense of humor: Careem aims to do everything with a wink
