We are looking for a highly motivated Scientist Consultant with background in molecular biology and protein biochemistry to join our Antibody Discovery Group in South San Francisco. The Scientist Consultant will be responsible for supporting molecular biology efforts devoted to generating antibody/protein expression constructs and library generation. This individual will work closely with members of the Antibody Discovery Team to support Large Molecule therapeutic programs.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Clone recombinant antibody and protein expression constructs, including sample preps and high-throughput sequence analysis
  • Support antibody discovery and engineering campaigns by constructing in vitro display libraries (phage and yeast)
  • Perform various scales of DNA preps for mammalian cell transfection to produce recombinant antibodies and proteins
  • Use of liquid handlers to automate sample preparation and storage procedures
  • Organize DNA and glycerol bacteria samples for distribution and proper storage
  • Work collaboratively with Large Molecule functional teams to ensure materials are delivered on time
  • Demonstrate collection and thorough analysis of data, and update Electronic Notebook records

Required Qualifications and Preferred Background:

  • Required:
  • BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Cancer Biology, Pharmacology, or related field with 0-2 years of experience working in an academic or industry laboratory setting.
  • Level commensurate with education and experience
  • Ideal candidate will also have:
  • Experience in various molecular biology techniques, including molecular cloning including Gibson assembly , site-directed mutagenesis, DNA purification, and phage or yeast display library construction
  • Experience in using bioinformatics and molecular biology software to analyze DNA and protein sequences for sequencing confirmation, cluster analysis, and design of de-novo expression constructs
  • Highly motivated, fast learner with strong organization skills to effectively present data and summary of results, and ability to solve problems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
