A day in the life…
Wondering what a day in the life of a Revenue Cycle/Patient Services Center Float at The Iowa Clinic might look like?
- Arrive at work in the morning – no night shifts here!
- A Float Representative is responsible for assisting wherever there is need within the central billing office. This could be within insurance follow up, denials management, posting, or as a courier when needed.
- Answers patient, clinic, insurance company and other third-party calls from the incoming multi-line telephone system.

Schedules appointments for various primary care clinic locations, directs calls or submits electronic tasks to specific clinic team.

Works denials received by the organization into the accounts receivable system.

Assist in the area of Insurance Pending and possess the ability to handle the resubmission, reposting, and transferring of data ques.
Qualifications
- A desire to find a meaningful, fulfilling career
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of ICD-9 and/or ICD-10 and CPT coding and Medicare exclusion required. Labels all specimens in accordance with clinical laboratory standards and Clinic policies and procedures
- Exposure to different types of insurance programs preferred.
