Purpose of the Position
Research Officer directly supports the activities’ implementation under the supervision of the Program Manager-Advocacy and Civil Society. He/she will assist the program manager in implementing the research activities under the SIDA project including the development of an advocacy baseline for professional women and a bi-monthly advocacy snapshot. He/she will contribute to organizing and delivering CGA2A and Mediation training to professional women and plays a key role in stakeholders’ management and engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities
- Assist the project implementation activities and document lessons learned.
- Lead the implementation of research activities under the SIDA project including the development of an advocacy baseline for professional women and the bi-monthly advocacy snapshot.
- Articulate the training plans and conduct capacity enhancement programs for professional women.
- Provide technical assistance to women's professional clusters in connection with the advocacy strategy and lobby meetings.
- Ensure follow-up for activities for completion of a plan or collaborative input from colleagues internal and external to the Program Implementation team.
Contributions

Workplan: articulation of detailed costed work plan and activity plan that track outputs

Reporting: lead and coordinate the development of reports (presentations, agenda, donor reports, monthly reports, activity reports, etc); upload and update the Grants Management System (GMS)

Compliance: draft memos relevant to rules and regulations; support project staff in understanding regulations

Financial management: monitor project budget lines and Budget versus Actuals (BvA)

Subaward management: finalize Terms of Reference (ToR) and other partner materials (e.g., contract, Statement of Work (SoW), etc.); drive partner capacity assessment and partner capacity plan; coordinate with partner staff in project implementation; review and provide support to partner work plan, budget, and contract; manage the compliance of subawardee

Create the procurement plan and ensure it is followed. Coordinate with project vendors (e.g., hotel, catering, printing, transportation, etc.)

Personnel Management: supervise Interns and Assistants as assigned, support in building staff capacity as needed, provide support in the recruitment of staff as needed, provide the Search Program Implementation description for recruitment posting, and contribute to the development of interview materials

External Engagement: Coordinate with partner staff in project implementation and activities, ensure effective communication with project stakeholders, and draft materials for stakeholders (donor/partner/governmental meetings - e.g., agenda, presentations, etc.)

Note and record challenges and lessons learned from project implementation via activity and monthly reports

Identify partner organizations and communities for future interventions

Support in the development of budget and budget simulations

Support in the identification and decision of opportunities (go/no-go)

Skills & Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
- Typically, BS/BA with a minimum of 3 years experience.
- Experience of work with international/national NGOs preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Interest in the peacebuilding, humanitarian, and development fields;
- Able to work under pressure and keen to learn from others.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and cross-cultural skills including the ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally with sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, social, and political issues
- Strong decision-making ability using good judgment and professionalism
- Fluency in English required, both written and oral
- Strong leadership and management skills with a good understanding of motivating and building teams.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and procedures, and able to meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members
- Excellent computer skills including Ms. Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and windows.
- Excellent time management skills.
