During the internship as R&D Simulator Mechanical Engineer, you will support the developments in the real-time dynamics simulation of Energy Storage Technologies such as Energy Vault EVx designs and our new technologies developed at our Global R&D Center located in Switzerland. You will be closely aligned with the software and engineering teams to ensure that the output represents at best the reality. The candidate will work with the development team to understand technologies and convert them into appropriate engineering specifications. The ideal candidate will have worked on some projects with simulation in a multibody dynamics and simulation software as CM-Labs Vortex or equivalent.
What you will do:
• Working with CM-Labs Vortex Studio to import and optimize CAD drawings, create parts and constraints within the simulator
• Calculate, obtain, research and configure mechanisms and parts with physical parameters (forces, friction, damping, material friction based on datasheet or physical properties) in collaboration with engineering team
• Work with Engineering team and Technology Software developers to adapt existing objects and models
• Program the components software in Python to manage functionalities of the movements of the machine
• Simulate movements of the mechanical components of parts of the machine
• Communicate with other software team members to obtain commands required to orchestrate the various components of the machine
• Run simulations on the complete machine
• Work with Internal and external design team members and attend meetings
• Communicate and collaborate with other departments (mainly technology, marketing, sales and product)
• Shape a culture of collaboration, innovation, constant improvement, excellence, transparency, open mindedness, humility, integrity, efficiency, joy, compassion, and fulfillment.
• Gain deep understanding of our renewable energy storage industry, our products and technology, our processes, and our people.
What a qualified candidate should possess
• Enrolled in a MSc/MEng or PhD in Mechanical Engineering
• Projects, interest, courses and/or experience in any multibody dynamics and simulation software (ex: used for robots, vehicles or heavy equipment) is preferred
• Project or courses on vision system/hydraulics/pneumatics/fluid dynamics/heat is preferred
• Knowledge of C++/C sharp and Python is required
• Past projects in the real-time visual simulation industry is preferred
