About The Role

The Quality Assurance team at Humane is responsible for ensuring that we deliver exceptional experiences to our customers.  As the QA Manager, you will partner with company leadership to define and implement our QA strategy, with contributions from design, engineering, customer experience, and more, while growing the QA team in service of these efforts.  You will shape and define our test and quality processes in alignment with our Humane culture and values.  You will develop and execute test plans that represent the output of collaborative dialogue with design and engineering.  Your ability to nurture and maintain these partnerships will be a key measure of your success.

What You Might Do

  • Collaborate with other cross-functional leaders to define what quality means for their team's output and impact on the product
  • Develop a staffing plan that meets QA needs relative to our product schedule
  • Give opinionated feedback about user experience to the design team
  • Give objective feedback about functional issues to the engineering team
  • Develop test plans via collaborative dialogue with design, engineering, customer experience, and more
  • Execute test plans and generate reports on software shippability at regular cadence
  • Work closely with SW teams to shift routine manual work into automation

Essential Qualifications 

  • 8+ years professional experience in relevant QA or QA-adjacent roles (eg, Product Management, Program Management, Engineering)
  • 4+ years professional leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ability to set high expectations and motivate a large team to exceed them
  • Knowledge of test methodologies and best-practices
  • Empathy for users from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to collaborate in a psychologically safe and healthy team environment

Preferred Skills

  • Experience leading and growing a QA team from the ground up
  • Experience shipping hardware + software products, and supporting them from ship through end-of-life
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, resource-conscious startup environment

Salary range: $200,000 - $240,000

  • The salary range for this role is listed above. Final salary offered is based upon multiple factors including individual job-related qualifications, education, experience, knowledge and skills
