  1. What experience do you have designing products for the consumer market?
  2. Almost all of my design experience is in the consumer market. When I was in school, I was part of a design team that worked on several projects for clients. We designed websites, print materials, and even a mobile app. Most recently, I worked as a junior designer for a large branding agency. I designed several marketing materials for various client projects.
  3. What is your process for creating new ideas?
  4. I usually start by researching the target audience. Sometimes a client will provide me with research, but other times I need to conduct my own. Once I know who the product is for, I can start thinking about what they might need or want.
  5. What do you think makes you a good fit for this role?
  6. I enjoy coming up with new and innovative ideas. I love seeing my work in production and watching it go out into the world. I’m also very collaborative; I enjoy working with clients and other designers to bring ideas to life.
  7. What do you think are the most important qualities for a product designer?
  8. Creativity and flexibility. I can’t specifically say that I have these qualities, but I do think that the job requires them. Product designers need to be able to think of new ideas, but they also need to understand the market and the target audience.
  9. What are your greatest strengths as a designer?
  10. I think my greatest strength is my ability to communicate visually through my work. I’ve worked hard to develop my design skills and I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished so far.
  11. How do you set goals for yourself as a design professional?
  12. I typically start with an overarching goal for the entire project. Then I break that down into smaller tasks that I can manage over time. I also try to think about how I can improve my skills and what I can learn from this project.
  13. How do you handle criticism from clients and stakeholders?
  14. I’m aware that it comes with the territory, so I try to approach it with an open mind. When someone gives me feedback, I try to understand where they’re coming from and appreciate their perspective. I take any comments that I feel are valid and incorporate them into my work.
  15. What would you say is your biggest accomplishment so far as a designer?
  16. It’s hard to say, but my recent project with Big Accounting Group was a big win for me. I created a new brand identity for their company and it went over very well with the client.
  17. Do you have experience working with agile development methods?
  18. Not specifically, but I’m familiar with the general concept. I do spend a lot of time working closely with developers and engineers, so I have to have adaptable ideas and designs.
  19. Are there any new technologies or techniques that you would like to try next?
  20. Right now I’m focusing on UX design and I’m interested in learning more about that field. I’m always looking for new things to learn and try out.
